New Grower Medi's Medical grow

Decided to add the 2 X 27w CFL 5000K bulbs that I started with to the tent, the temps are significantly lower in there with the extra space, holding a steady 75f/24c even with the addition of the CFLs. I'm planning to add a permanent second light in the space, but haven't decided to supplement the LED with CFL, or just double down on LED. Anyone have any opinions on it?

I'll be getting a 2nd UFO (prob. the 180W version of what I already have, for the extra spectrum coverage) for my second grow...

I was thinking about getting another one like mine also. I was going to give this one a couple weeks to show me how it works, but now that I've added the CFLs I might not get a great representation.

They're looking good so far man. One of the reasons I chose cfl over led was the heat they put out. I've been able to maintain a steady 25 c during lights on, dropping to about 18 c during lights off. Here in the UK it's still pretty cold and wet atm. That being said I might switch over to LED for the summer months. Food for thought.

That is one of the draws of CFL, I'm concerned I won't have enough transpiration to support fast growth with just the temps of the LED, normally you supplement the room temps for LED, but I don't have much manipulation room in that regard. I think I'll see how adding the CFL plays out, and if it goes well I'll get a bigger bulb with a reflector.

Hey man, things are looking good so far. Many members normally run LED/CFL combos. I like the addition of CFL for at least the first couple of weeks as I think it helps them with the initial stretch out of the ground and provides a bit of additional spectrum you might be missing in the LED. You mentioned your RH is around 50%, so transpiration shouldn't be a problem for you. I initially add heat and RH with a humidifier if needed, and later on just seal my closet door/vent for a bit and point my fan higher to circulate the warmer air that rises up.

.: Day 11 :.

So I would have waited until tomorrow to post, but the girls have grown quite a bit in their new home. I got the sensizym in today, and was wondering if I should just add it to my next watering, or if I should add it sooner but use less water? I was going to air on the side of caution and just wait until they dry out, but wanted to know what others thought about the risk vs reward of either option. I'm loving all the work space, and what feels like a great temp/RH improvement from the tent. Other than that not much to report the temp is sitting at 79 at the highest point of the day, and RH was 49%. Picture included.

If you can do it, go with another LED. They will last ten times longer than a CFL. when run 18+ hours a day, CFL's lose brightness after 3-5 month and need to be replaced, where as LEDs will maintain effective brightness for thousands of hours of use.

Thanks pop. That's a fair point. I'm less concerned about cost than about the mountain of mercury filled bulbs I'd be collecting over time, but a penny saved is a penny earned!
