They look like hell in those photos compared to what they look like a couple hours later. I've decided it was in fact light stress as well as the additional heat was keeping my RH really low(as low as 36%). Since taking the CFL out my RH has gone from 40% to 44% in just a couple of hours, and the droop in thing 1 is reversing itself pretty rapidly. I'm back on track I think. I feel like a jackass though for not catching the subtle hints.
Optimal RH for veg is between 60%-70%. For flowering it goes down to 40%-60% 36% may not be too extreme, but it's well outside of optimal, and combined with the light stress the results were evident.
I watered them yesterday afternoon, and my method is to drizzle about 6-8 oz of water on one plant, then the other, rinse and repeat while working my way from outside to in, that way each of them has the maximum amount of time to soak up between cup fulls.
SCROG So I decided to start the SCROG today. I keep going back and re-tucking all of the fan leaves on Thing 1 to keep the lateral branches alive(though in some cases just barely) and it hit me this morning that I could start the SCROG and get the lateral branches to stretch out and hopefully start looking more like Thing 2. I had to lower the net to around 8 inches to get low enough for Thing 2 to reach, and so it's only bending slightly for now. I realize this might shorten my overall height, but the expected height on this strain reaches up to 120cm, so it could do with some shortening overall, especially when the trade off is more bud sites.
Lighting
So far removing the CFL was one of the better ideas I've had in this grow, the girls have both started looking better, the RH has gone up to over 50%, and the heat hasn't broken 25C. I'm still looking forward to the new light but so far I don't appear to be wanting for light in my tent.
Water/Feed
So even though it's only been 2 days since last water the top half inch of soil was looking pretty dry so I decided to water & feed. First I watered about 8oz per pot with PH 7 water to moisten the soil, then 30 minutes later I came back and gave each of the girls a half liter each of Dynagro Grow @ 1/2 tsp per gallon which is about 50% packaging recommendation. Runoff was around 6.5. Water was PH'd a bit over 7 to help adjust any acidity in the soil. The thought occurred to me over the last couple days that what I thought was nute burn could just as likely have been the opposite, and the only way to test that theory was to apply a decent amount of nutrients and wait a day. I've stopped using Sensizym because I was afraid it might be working too well, and I don't like not having control of how much nutrient is in the medium at any given time. Only time will tell if my intuition was right or not.
Thanks Gman. I started playing with how white shift works on my camera, and decided to get a shot of what several hours after training has done to the ladies and I have to say I'm quite happy with the bounce back. So without further ado.
