Is this like your tincture @archie gemmill except you used alcohol?,or I just getting it all mixed up

Interested to hear more about tinctures that others have made!

alcohol-ethanol same thing different sides of the pond,they do % we do proof,proof x2 =%.they find it hard to get iso alcohol(for us easy...but iso not for drinking),we cant get that grain alcohol like them so we use vodka.
i think thats the way it works.

Here they use straight %. Can get a bunch of high % grain type distilled alcohol.
But also have a big range of food grade quality 95% stuff, too. Iso-propyl also available.
I went with the ethanol because if any left in the RSO it's not toxic to humans.
There are shops in the city that have products for DIY essential oils, cosmetics, soaps, etc.
I'm in neither North America or Europe/UK.

The higher the proof/% the better the extraction. I can buy 200 proof 100% Grain Alcohol (ethanol) on Amazon but it is expensive $52.00 a QT. with shipping. 2 - 1.75 L bottles of cheap vodka $18.00 yields about 1.5 Qts. 190 proof/95% or about $12 per Qt. I lose about 1/2 Qt. per run so it costs me $5 for dry ice and $6. for ethanol so about $11 to do an extraction. 80 g of bud yielded 5.5 g of QWET.

Shipping from Amazon to me here is horribly expensive.
I'm willing to just lose the alcohol in the process.
Neither I nor my partner drink alcohol of any kind.

but it was £50 we can get 1L of 99.9% medical grade iso (isopropanol alcohol) £6 or 25L £60 i tried to get the grain stuff on ebay but they wanted £75 for a half bottle
and dry ice is like hens teeth over here to.

Ouch. You must have some heavy taxes there.
Here, 95% stuff would be equiv of about £20 / Liter.
Isopropyl about the same price IIRC.
Dry ice is not too hard to find, not that I'm using it.

Even with a vacuum you cannot get all of the solvent out and I prefer ethanol to ISO-alcohol getting into my body.

My thinking too, about the ethanol vs isopropyl.
Let alone Rick Simpson's naptha...............

These conversations all ways stop me from doing any ,,, you think you have it in your head and a few big words later ,,, I confident I shouldn't invovle my self in making anything otherwise I will indeed blow my self up and /or end in a &e with a perforated ulcer ,,,, :smoking:

He's a bit unhappy that the pure CBD plants didn't turn out well, too.
That was really the main focus of the grow, because he wants to try the CBD but not the THC.

Result, the two CBD photo plants were ... terrible...
Two THC:CBD autos pretty good though.
And a couple of the THC plants really quite nice!!

i just really like cannabis Maria especially variety,variety of strains,buds,dry sift,qwet,qwiso,tincture,bho,rosin just an eejit that like to try things.cooking to but i near puked
in my neck of the woods cbd is legal...but thats ok if you buying a lil bottle of something at £9.99 from Boots but it only contains 3% active ingredients and less than 1% thc as thats a nono,,,,but really thats no better than an official scam.
even though we cant test our stuff for thc/cbd we can guesstimate and its a lot more than the retail stuff.
some say you need full spectrum thc and cbd's.just nicer with lower thc so ya dont end up in loolooland,or if the person who is likely to have a low tollerance.
sublingual under the tongue is meant to be much stronger than eating,someting to do with bypassing the stomach and going straight to the liver.i think maybe.
if ya can line up a few (not tea,the other one) filters as it can take an age to drip through.

the next time i do a tincture i could split it in two,then boil off the other half to an rso.

Thanks, @archie gemmill -- this oil and RSO stuff is all new to me.
Reading your tincture thread right now.
Reminds me that I didn't state earlier:

Used a baking thermometer throughout.
Carb was a solid 115 C in the jar.
I also just left my herbs in the jar.
Three strains, wanted to keep separate.

RSO cook down at a solid 78 C.
Which is boiling point of ethanol, 79 C, I think.

Because I'm using alchohol, it's pretty bitter with the chlorophyll and plant stuff.

If you freeze the buds and alcohol first you get much less chlorophyll
