alcohol-ethanol same thing different sides of the pond, they do % we do proof, proof x2 =%.they find it hard to get iso alcohol(for us easy...but iso not for drinking),we cant get that grain alcohol like them so we use vodka.
i think thats the way it works.

The higher the proof/% the better the extraction. I can buy 200 proof 100% Grain Alcohol (ethanol) on Amazon but it is expensive $52.00 a QT. with shipping. 2 - 1.75 L bottles of cheap vodka $18.00 yields about 1.5 Qts. 190 proof/95% or about $12 per Qt. I lose about 1/2 Qt. per run so it costs me $5 for dry ice and $6. for ethanol so about $11 to do an extraction. 80 g of bud yielded 5.5 g of QWET.

this is best i could find
88% vodka.JPG
88proof or 176% 700ml
but it was £50 we can get 1L of 99.9% medical grade iso (isopropanol alcohol) £6 or 25L £60 i tried to get the grain stuff on ebay but they wanted £75 for a half bottle :cuss:
and dry ice is like hens teeth over here to.

Even with a vacuum you cannot get all of the solvent out and I prefer ethanol to ISO-alcohol getting into my body.

These conversations all ways stop me from doing any ,,, you think you have it in your head and a few big words later ,,, I confident I shouldn't invovle my self in making anything otherwise I will indeed blow my self up and /or end in a &e with a perforated ulcer ,,,, :smoking:

Maria the snake charmer how exotic:dancer:

A lost hoard of seeds to find :cooldance:

:woohoo:

I would start lifting the floor boards  till he gets his memory back

great stuff, but how could you not lick the spoon :baked:
original RSO was done with naptha or something  home gamers like us use what we can get a hold of.my kinda take on it is,if its gloopy and in a syringe its rso,if its more liquidy and in a dropper bottle its more a tincture.
a trick the iso/eth hashers use is when liquid is almost gone add a few drops of water to slow it down just at the end.as the liquid is a mix of eth, water and weed, and its the eth thats boiling off no harm done.
good luck n dont keep er lit, cause the vapors are :poof:
:pighug:

Yeah, lots of options for the solvent, but ethanol seemed best for this time all things considered.
May try iso-propyl alcohol next. Dinafem have an awesome vid on this.
They do a 72 hr slow evaporation at 40 C or something.
The result is like clear honey!

My stuff is def goopy thick sludge oil. It's not a tincture or reg oil at all.
I think it's pretty obvious when the last evap of the water and ethanol happens at the end.
A def bubble to the thick oil, and the crackle hiss that comes with it.

Was a bit worried about the fumes, but fans on and windows open, no problem at all.

Licking the bowl and spoon sends me on a major trip! I think that when I make chocolates that some extra rosin sticks to the bowl and spoon. I have been locked to my chair a couple of times .

I can imagine, hahahaaaa!! I still had some work to do that night...
We've kept the pot unwashed for the next cook.
Because I'm using alchohol, it's pretty bitter with the chlorophyll and plant stuff.
I'm sure your chocolate is much tastier!!

I am really against solvents remaining in my meds but I cannot get rosin thin enough for using in a vape cartridge. So I have gone to QWET as the least offensive solvent extract. Then I thin it with terpenes. I bought a distiller to recapture the ethanol and make 190 proof ethanol from cheap vodka $8.99 for 1.75 Liters = ~ .7 Liters of 190 proof. I use dry ice to chill the frozen broken up bud and ethanol separately and then process it together for 30 minutes in dry ice shaking every 5 minutes then filter it into the distiller. Then as the ethanol is finished distilling out at 98°C; I open the unit turn it down to about 70°C and stir with a silicone spatula until it is free of water and ethanol. Fresh frozen bud has worked the best for this so far to produce a light golden product. Older cured bud comes out a little dark. It is still good for vaping.

Fancy. This was my first attempt, so I'm still on the steep end of the learning curve.
