What do you suppose would happen to a healthy 55 day old plant that has been 18/6 if you added 30 minutes of light every couple days until she was 24/0?
Reason for doing it would be that my next grow I’m going to try 24/0 and I don’t want to wait til another month for this plant to finish. So I was wondering if I could slowly wean her to 24/0. Tons of bud in the fridge so I’ll probably run an experiment and see what happens
It depends. Photosynthesis is light dependent, so increasing light intensity increases the rate of photosynthesis (to a point.)
Since both those regiments are more than enough to either support vegetative growth in photoperiods or veg/bloom in autoflowers, we're more interested in "Daily Light Integral," or DLI, which measures the amount of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) that reaches a specific area over a 24-hour period.
By increasing the amount of light hours on, you're increasing your DLI, which could increase your growth rate. The lighting needs for cannabis aren't the same from start to finish, so this could be totally unnecessary depending on the starting quality of the light provided, or it could actually lead to an increase in growth.
So if you know what your PPFD is at your canopy for what your lighting is now, you can make a pretty educated decision if that's a good move for you or not.
