Trouble for me was that, renting one here was not feasible (I would have had to rent one from across the US border, and shipping time through customs was part of the rental period). So I bought one.

That is one reason I top them all. Bushy is easier to manage than dealing with a monster that won't leave your lights alone. Even topped, some strains push the envelope...

of course not, that was not the purpose. What it did for me was allow me to determine with reasonable certainty that my light was within reasonable levels so that when dealing with symptoms that I wanted to try to fix, I could concentrate on other issues.
