I'd love to learn to be a luthier! Met a guy in Taos NM a few years back who builds custom mandolins. He showed me around his shop and I've wanted to learn the trade ever sinceDamn, good question. Definitely a luthier! Designing and building Custom stringed instruments would’ve been my jam! Not actually sure there is a “school” for this… think it’s just apprenticeship.
Came to the same decision about a mandolin im flipping around to lefty. Maybe someday I'll get the tools and start learning but for now I just want to play this mandolin and start leaning that againTo build guitars you need Luther tools too. I looked into putting on a new nut myself and each file is 30bux and you need 6 different ones for each string size. You file where the strings go. Look into stumac they sell them. I think because its a specialized market that can get away with charging 30bux for a file. But I decided I'm just gonna have the music store do it because its still cheaper then buying the tools. Btw building furniture is cool. Be cool to sit in your own creation
