Hubby likes to tell me about the time when he was about 7 and a kitten was following him from the barn to the house. It got snatched by an owl the moment it crossed into the light between the two buildings.
That would likely have been a Great Horned. Those rascals are not the biggest North American owl, but they are likely the strongest. Small cats don't have much of a chance. Even a medium or largish cat could be hurt or killed. OTOH, taking on a large cat could be a mistake for the owl.
The most recent cat of ours somehow learned about Bald Eagles while on our boat on the coast. I would have liked to see how she managed that. It must have been an interesting miss by the eagle. That cat used up the last of her lives later, likely in an encounter with a lynx. There were a few around that year because we were at the peak of the hare cycle. At times a person could see several hares at once out in the yard, and lynx tracks were frequently in the yard too.
The various cats in our lives have now been replaced by a certain dog.
Ok @420Forever, a bit of random bs to add another post. 1100 is not far away.
Checked my Mephisto Fugue State for trichs, and she is definitely closing in at Day 63. Just the earliest hint of ambering, but still lots of clear to my eye, so I will hang in there for a while longer while watching her like a hawk.
It is snowmageddon here at the moment, puking down and already~20cm new on the driveway. So, I do my update today instead of tomorrow when I might just get to do something other than hunker in the house unless running the snowblower. So, pics in due course in my main grow threads.
