Is that the only option the French drain or is there other ways cheaper hopefully?

Not really other than some crazy landscaping, grading the entire property, extra gutters n downspouts with really long drain lines, and sometimes they still end up jacking up the house so drain tile is cheaper.
Stone walls and concrete floors are good though. Some guys don't like them but i prefer them if you cut the floor nice the walls crack less than concrete ones. I wish your regular plumber or some one you knew would do it cuz it sounds like you need it for sure done and it's not something all people do so they screw it up. Cut the floor, dig the trench, haul out the dirt, gotta lay down stone and tamp the piss out of it then run water to make sure it settles, add some sand then repeat , before you lay pipe . Its not hard just labor heavy
