Well, that's a hell of a lot better than going into the sewer system.
Fertilizer runoff is a huge problem in modern agriculture.
What the hell do these large indoor grow operations do with their runoff if they're running chemical fertilizers?
@WildBill Large hydro operations run closed systems. The runoff is continuously monitored for Nutrient balance, the missing elements are injected back in and it goes back to feed the plants. Some systems even pull the water out of the air and return it to the system. There is a point at which most everything is filtered out and concentrated the water is then used for other ag purposes. The waste from this process is dealt with like heavy metal toxic waste but it is very little compared to the water in the system.
