Does anyone here buffer their own coco?
If you do what's your method, the internet has so many ways it should be done.
I normally buy pre-buffered coco but I ran out and had to grab what I could in the local shops.
I'm doing my first 3 coco grows, the oldest now at 26 days old. I got the cheap 5 kilo brick of Mother Earth coco coir ($20), so I had to buffer it myself. I read a couple of instructions online, then interpolated:
1. Bust off 1/10 of the brick for a 3GL pot and soak in tapwater for an hour 'til thoroughly hydrated
2. put it in a big strainer and run water through it to rinse out the dust
3. soak in CalMag water, pH'd to 5.5 (7.5 ml of CALiMAGic per gallon)
4. strain out excess liquid and rinse with a little rainwater pH'd to 5.5 (this step may be a mistake... I read that it might be better to leave all the CalMag in there)
5. Run water through the perlite in a strainer to rinse the dust out
6. mix the perlite and coco (25-30% perlite)

It seems to be working so far. Here's the GG4 auto a couple days ago on day 24:
