You better just drain the fuel tank and add fresh. If your spark are not all coated with carbon,, you could add a fuel system cleaner. A carbon filled combustion chamber can bust off a chunk of carbon and get it stuck in a valve seat and burn it. Not knowing what kind of vehicle or what kind of fuel system ya have, that's about all I can say to do to it.

Yes those are all concerns but the mechanic said just to drive it out.
