Haha thank you my friend. To paraphrase a line that was said about The Dude’s namesake……

“He was the dog for his time and place…”

…… and has been the perfect dog since we met, even in imperfect times and circumstances…

I think both of you got seriously lucky. Our experience was a bit different, we ended up getting a dog from a local vet who breeds dogs. We searched for a rescue dog for a couple years without luck because we wanted a small dog so we could take it on our sailboat for long trips, but not a really small dog because we needed it to put up with a day's long hike. Long story short, we couldn't find one for rescue, so we went with a local pup, and she has worked out really well. It is hard to imagine life without her now.

We sold the sailboat not long after we finally got a dog. Plans eh?
