Yeah that, and that it can be "too hot" for seedlings are about all the real negative I've heard about it.

I don't know... but just because you haven't gotten any gnats in the few bags you've ordered, doesn't mean everyone who says they have gotten gnats is a liar. I agree, Fox Farms probably takes more flack than they deserve because people use it as their first medium, make mistakes and blame the soil. But, if everyone really hated it so much, it probably wouldn't be the ubiquitous cannabis soil sold in every grow shop. I personally had good results with it the ine time i used it, but definitely had gnats come out of the bag when I opened it.
I
to me sounds more like storing conditions of the grow shop vs the actual soil. You would have to buy a bag of every soil sold there to be able to state that fox farms for a fact gave you the gnats. I mean that's the right way to do it..

ffof was 10 dollars a bag in my area pre-pandemic.. now its 16
It's $20+ here, and now I can get Build a Soil light recipe for $20/cu.ft locally so that's been my go to for fresh soil. Never had Fungus Gnats come with that (build a Flower is a different story)

All I'm saying is my results speak for themselves, its for sure not too hot, and not every bag has bugs. I think for someone just starting out like I am, it wouldn't be a horrible idea to go the cheap simple route. Since that's what we were originally talking about. :pass:

I agree it's nota bad choice, at all but I will say for the full length of the grow (seed to harvest) I've found a good bag of Build a Soil 3.0 or light recipe and a bag a craft blend is much more cost effective and better end results.
