New Grower I probably should have waited until fall...

Thanks MOG. I think 24 inches is doable right now, will be close. Will start conservatively and see what she likes from there. If she wants and can handle more, I will lower it and/or increase intensity. It is 3000, so good color for flowering.

I hope the light intensity will make up just a bit for the 12/12 schedule.
Here is what that COB or close (this is for the 3500k) will put out at half power:

I am super excited. My buddy brought the light over this evening, and I wasted no time in hanging it. In fact just in time for tonight's 12 hour light cycle. We were able to place about 26 inches above the CP canopy. Man, this thing is bright! Will see how she likes her new light tomorrow!

You can spread the light out a little more by removing the reflector. This makes it a little more friendly for distance to the canopy. Does it say what the voltage out to the cob is on the driver case? It can be 36v or 72v. It makes a big difference in the umoles and I can run the numbers for you again if it is 72v.

The driver has voltage range of 28.8 to 48. As it turns out, though, the potentiometer is under the driver, in a position that I would have to remove the casing to decrease. I wanted to test it at the full power last night before going through that. I reached out to the Rapid Led folks who confirmed that If necessary I can move the light further away, or remove the reflector if i was concerned about light intensity. They noted that the current setting should should be very efficient, though.

The plant seemed to really love the light. I removed the four T5's I had for supplemental lighting, as this accomplished that, and I don't need to pay electric costs for lights that aren't accomplishing anything.

Ok then the calculations I did are relevant. Do you have a watt meter? If so let me know how many watts it is pulling.

By the way, MOG, I hooked up a top off reservoir, and manually topping off was a choir. This move has simplified maintenance significantly. Wish I did it when you first mentioned it, but to be honest, it sounded a bit complicated to pull off. Boy was I wrong!

Setup is coming together and will be dialed in for the next grow. Kind Led through veg, and then I turn on the 3000k cob at flower, adjusting height as the plants dictate.

I don't have a watt meter, but The Rapid folks said it's pulling 80 watts from wall.

I tell new DWC growers this all of the time eventually they all install a top-off tank. Your plants will improve with the constant water level in the reservoir.

I am constantly tweaking my grow space and methods.
