Hey folks,
so i have been trying my hand at this thing here that AFN is all about for roughly 2 years. been doing great and really enjoy it, but i noticed my best buds are generally not as dense and heavy as what others give me. Some of what i have grown has come somewhat close, being overall nice size and good consistency, but my buddy keeps showing up with these dense buds, super tightly trimmed to where you almost cant tell that its a flower but looks like a nut, lol.

so i am wondering, whats the deal with this, am i doing this wrong or what are the tricks. also, what are your thoughts on this.

lower humity last couple of weeks , get more light, not to hot in flowering, and the plant strain make big difference.
That said mate your bud look pretty damn good. first bud looks vacuum sealed like Atulip said and 2nd bud looks like it was trimmeed on industrial trimmer so real tight trim, just a guess on my parts.

p.s. i didn't mention nutrients on purpose, far smarter people than me will tell you the N K P of it.

edited: I forgot outdoors or in soil I use blackstrap mollasses, not sure if that actually increase bud size or just helps soil.

Careful what you wish for. Dense buds on the plant are a target for bud rot. That given the first ingredient is the genetics of the plant. Indica photoperiods will grow the densest buds. 50 or more DLI of a red leaning light with plenty of UVA and UVB. Fall like conditions with day temps ~75°F and Night temps 62°F in the last 3 weeks of flower. Proper nutrition. Dense buds do not test higher than more open ones at least the ones I have tested. I have lost several dense bud plants to bud rot so I would rather not grow them.

Yep... this...
Lower rH, lower temps thru flower, better lighting... genetics.
More tropical varieties will tend to be looser due to the environment they've been bred in. More mountainous, indica / Afghan will genetically be more dense. And I agree, your nug looks fine.
