Hi Everyone! Finally my tent has arrived, been setup, seeds have germinated and everything is setup. :-D

I'm sure this grow will have it's issues but I'll be recording everything, learning a lot and hopefully my next DWC will be a lot better.

Sticky Fly Traps
SB Plant Invigorator and Bug Killer (foliar feed - non-chemical and non-biological and non-toxic and biodegradable)

Germinated Seeds: Started on March 1st. Couple of day’s later seeds had germinated. Germination method: Dropped seeds into glass of tap water for 24 hours. Transplanted seeds pointed end down, knuckle end up, into Root Riot sponges. Kept moist by spraying with Rhizotonic half strength and tap water.

Nutrient tank: Filled with 200 Liters’ of RO water + a dose of H2O2 ran through system for a few days before seedlings put in. To test environment and water temps and to make sure nothing cultivates in the system.

Day 1: Placed seedlings into net pots March 7th when they had a small set of true leaves.

All seedlings look good except Dark Devil # 1 has very yellow leaves, it’s basically been this way since germination. I germinated one extra Think Different seed and I was contemplating putting it into the system instead of the yellow Dark Devil. However I’ve decided to see if I can save the Dark Devi. A bit of a challenge :-D

Nutrient tank: (all figures in mls per litre)
40 / 0.2ml silica
40 / 0.2ml cal-mag
420 / 2.1ml rhizotonic
100 / 0.5ml Sensi Grow A+B
PH: 5.5
EC: 0.65

Top fed seedlings: same as in res
Foliar fed: same as in res

Day 3: Took photos of tent and seedlings.

All the seedlings are looking good and slightly bigger. The Dark Devil #1 is still yellow.

Top Fed + Foliar Fed
PH: 5.5
EC: 0.65

Note in the photos that the 4 x Grow Northern Ms0006 lights that I'll be running (two on either side of the existing 600W MH lamps) haven't arrived yet and are currently being filled in for by 2 x 200 watt CFL bulbs I've had previously for vegging seedlings.

I'm adding a few more days of my journal as I'm actually up to day six right now. I wasn't going to post anything until they were a couple of weeks old and growing faster so it's more interesting but I've been having a small problem so I'm going to go ahead and post regularly now, so people can chime in, make sure I'm on the right track.

Day 4: DD#1 is getting slightly green tips on its yellow leaves now.
Humidity 30% - 55%
Today I’ve ordered a pond fogger which I can put into 20+ litre bucket of water. This will help me cut down on the amount of times I’m having to refill the small humidifiers (twice a day for both). It should arrive in about 7 days.

A couple of the plants leaves are developing brown / rust spots. This could be result of foliar feeding / burning with 24/7 light so I’m cutting foliar feeding out completely to rule out it out.

Day 5: Water temps in buckets getting up to 21c. Installed a water chiller to keep water in res at 16c so when the recirculation timer kicks in the average temperature will be closer to 18c. I've found the temps in the black buckets raises pretty quickly to about 21c. Recirculating with colder water in tank 3 or 4 times a day will fix that.

DAY 6: BlueLabs Guardian arrived and was calibrated and installed.

Many of the plants have brown spots on the leaves and it’s not getting better. Foliar feeding burning probably wasn’t the issue, so will be increasing Cal-Mag and Grow nutrients to combat this problem.

Increased cal-mag from 0.2mpl up to 0.4 mpl
Increase grow A&B from 0.5mpl up to 0.7mpl
Raised EC from 0.65 up to 0.8EC

Dark Devil #1 still yellow but is growing in size. Slight improvement but could be better / faster.
I will watch it for a couple of days with this higher EC. If it doesn’t improve I’ll top feed a couple of times a day with Nitrogen 11-0-0 in the form of Canadian Xpress Might Growth Enhancer

Click to see photo album of the seedlings and let me know if I'm on the right track with my diagnosis. Accidently added a bud pic at the end of the album, ignore that :)

to help stabilize your temps, get some foil faced pliable insulation and wrap your buckets, you'll be surprised how much even this small amount of insulation helps. your chiller will runs less and the temperature curve will be more gradual.

Hi Pop - that's fantastic advice. I was thinking about how the black buckets just suck up the heat from the lamps. The temps inside them raise quite quickly. So yes that's a fantastic idea. I'll get some tomorrow and wrap the buckets and probably even make some lid covers for them too. That will make a huge difference. Nice one! :)

EDIT: Pop32 just to let you know I hit up the hardware store today and they are out of stock of that silvery insulation sheeting stuff, so I've ordered some, it will be here in a week.
