Dutch Passion Groff Labs: AutoMazar - GN LEDs - Airpots - Coco vs Biobizz

Day 99!!

Pictures were taken yesterday... Where I put the AM-Coco 1 & 2 into sleep mode in my other tent for 48 hours. So the chop will be tomorrow around this time. Sleep mode is still internet "old wives tale", but my research confirms "why the heck no try it myself" ? - Anyone else here ever tried this?

Sleep mode is putting you plant into total darkness before harvest, just like photos before the 12/12 flip. Also, harvesting should preferably be done in the dark or very ealry morning. Sleep mode is the plant's stress response equivalent to humans going into shock due to a near death experience. They goe into hormonal overdrive, and go all-in reproduction mode for survival. Terpenes and terpenoids are produced massively, thus giving the plant a great medicinal value-boost. As an added toker bonus, the smell should increase exponentially. Terpenes, noids and CBD and CBN's are what I'm looking for for my next project. And smoke a heck load of it too :bong: :cough:

Also, resin production is also power-boosted, but since there is no light at all, there is no THC degradation. Here is where internet folk story causes debate. Some pheno's burst into resin production and show obvious results, others not so much, but what seems a consensus is that smell definitely skunks up. So it seems logical to put them into sleep mode and then straight to harvest, but increase high due to resin -> thc -> no degradation -> stronger high... could be a pheno thing more than specie traight.

No lollipoping, pruning ... nothing. au naturelle !! This packed full bottom bud is packed with resin like you wouldn't believe. All my (two... lol) cameras suck... but this and trim will be the basis for a topical balm I'm concocting using grape seed oil as basis.View attachment 240860

Shhhhh... nihty night... View attachment 240853

On the Biobizz side, I'm a bit dissapointed... they're much smaller, and with much less bud potential. The buds are thin and fluffy, they should be puffing up nicely by now, but I'm not seeing it. Maybe I'm in for a surprise though, as I have have with these two since day one. Proper picture biobizz update still to come.

Tomorrow is :amazon: day!! Hoo-ha! :ama:

PS: Please excuse the pic here below... wrong upload!

nice one Groff!!! Let me know if you think that the sleep mode made a difference, I may do the same for my BAM, as she is still drinking like crazy and could maybe use up some more stored nutes in a 2 day dark period!!! Thanks for all the science!!!

Will do insert! Definitely have the pictures to do a before/after balance. I didnt get much into it, but apart from that "bud-rot-chop", I did chop of a nice side branch, as I was out of smoke, from the other plant. The pheno's from each of these are also distinct in the smoke. The nº-1 definitely has a stronger and lasting high. But, again, not really a fair comparisson, the nº-2 went dry way too quick and neither had a proper cure.

What I'm getting at is that since its the first time I'm growing these strains I have no basis for comparison  So I guess its all up to a visually obvious resin production...

One thing I do regret is that since I really do have to chop these now, I wasnt able to give them a longer flush. I went gradually down from EC 2.1 to 0.3 in about 4 days, and from there on only 7 days of clear water until chop. Should be enough to clean her out, but not to munch on her reserves and get that final *ooompf*

Cool I'll stay tuned. Take some close up pics before and after, and really try to guage the smell factor after the dark period. I did that with my tundra, I certainly don't think that it hurt anything

They look awesome bro. I found the 48hrs darkness thing did work for me, my diesel had clusters of trichs just appear on the buds, mainly down the edges of the sugar leafs and the odd random patch of them on the buds.

Thanks for the +1 Mr K, always nice to hear that other are getting good results!!!

yeah yeah, I forgot to mention... the underside of the leaves are also packed with trichs. I've never seen so much of it before

Yeah bro, I love staring at all the glistening frosty goodness :D

Chop Report!

Unfortunately, most of the pictures suck, and can't really make real sense of anything except aparant looks. It was night time and low light and crappy camera. Only 2 plants, but boy did they give me a hard-on... :face: I mean... a hard time!
I only got rid of the big fan leaves. I left most smaller leaves so it would not affect drying, and I was very limited for time too. Girls surely look lovely properly manicured, but I'm still not at ease with how even they will dry with such an intense manicure... I want to keep my sugar leaves properly dry and cured for edibles and what not. Also, hanging, I need the stems, and for the same reason, slow progressive drying... How do you guys do it? Anyone done a comparison between drying with stem and leaves vs bud alone?

About the 48h dark period... no significant trich production that I could tell, but the smell... holy crap! they stunk my hole house up, massively! This alone tells me that 48h is definitely a to-do thing from now on. Very intense and pungent.

Dont have wet yield, not much sense weighing the whole plant basically... so when the stems snap, I'll report back.
Not too long before I can :bong:
