Indoor GreenBean's Grows

24/7, eh? Interesting. And no negative effects? What strikes me is that many growers who have done 24/7 report diminished yield whereas the "Cannabis Growers Bible", the author having at least a BS in botany, says flat out that there's no diminution of output.

What's your experience been like?
Overall I have had good yields. I have played with a lot of nutrients, so sometimes I have had problems on that front but I would say with nutes that I use on a regular basis 6 to 10 z's is what I expect

I'm trying to get some sense of how much to push my Gorilla Glue autos. Most of the canopy is at 650± but the colas that are sticking up are around 800. I'd like to get the average PPFD up higher but I don't want to damage the colas that are the "hot spots".

Per the numbers below, the light is only 12" and 13" above canopy. Raise the light and turn up the wattage?

Hey there. I've got a little work to do. But I will follow up with you more in a bit. I wouldn't worry too much about the colas at 800 personally as long as your temps are in order. And the lights aren't sitting on top of them. Some of my tall colas are at over 1000. Lower down around 800-ish.

I would focus on widening the canopy myself to get everything as level as you possibly can. That is one reason that I, usually, don't do a lot of early LST. Also why I insist on installing my grommets on every pot. If you look at Mendel above, you can see how I've "pulled" the biggest colas (for the most part) to the outer edge of the pot, and "pushed" the smaller bud sites towards the center. This "lowers" the largest colas to an extent, but opens the canopy up for good light. It's a pretty non-intrusive way of doing it IMHO.

And also doesn't require too much raising or lowering of the lights. I just raise as they go and use the dimmer for everything else.

Of course, every plant is different and it's not always a one size fits all approach. My Walter White for example, I probably should have done a little early LST on. She didn't grow into the structure that I prefer. But I'm stubborn sometimes and think I've found a universal solution for everything. Then I'm proven wrong.

I personally run 18/6. I haven't noticed anything better with 24/7 myself and I do get good yields at 18/6. I have noticed light tiredness at 24/7 before though, and at 20/4. So I just figure it to be a waste of electricity myself. But we all do things differently and that's OK.

I have also seen people run 24/7 and have great results. I know that someone wrote a bible. But I dunno about it. Not to diminish the author's knowledge at all. I think some things can be approached in a very scientific manner, but many things are based on the power of observation and experience. You kind of read the rule book and then throw it away - like playing a guitar. I always look at books like that to be a foundation personally.

At this stage of my hobby journey, I am always aiming for 1 lb per auto yield. That's just the goal I set for myself. To get autos to yield more like photos. Does it happen every time? Nope. But I do learn something new every time which helps me the next time. Even if it's a "bummer" run.

Day 63/53 for Mendel/ Mephisto

Mendel is starting to really bulk and get a crusty frost at day 63. All good stuff. Curious to see where she ends up. Some of the colas are becoming pretty massive. Again, a trouble free grow all around on this one. Smells evolving to what I can only describe as "tropical underarms". I did a little canopy clean up. But more needs to be done:

Walter is being Walter at day 53. She's getting there. I pluck 1 leaf, 10 grow back. But she's gonna be a banger. On her schedule though. NOT mine. She is barely, just getting started. I thought I knew a lot? She has taught me otherwise. But, she is gonna be a little beast.

I'm gald to see @olbobcat back. He gives me peace and luck. But whatever happened to @Mara Cachafa ? And @420Forever just blew the thread off after the first big yield?

I'm kidding. Sort of.
I haven't seen Mara around in a minute. 420 doesn't venture into journal land too often I don't think.

And not really different from 18/6 or 20/4, except for the fact that they finish faste

6 - 10 oz is a good harvest, no doubt.

At the moment, 800's a little strong for them. I gave them an extra hour last night and saw some light avoidance by noon today. The pisser is that they're growing into the light. It's at 13" on the left and 14" on the right and the plants are growing into the light. I lowered the wattage this afternoon because it was easier than lowering the light.

I see that. That's a really interesting technique and I can see how that would help get light into the lower canopy.

Per above, dimmer's a lot easier.

Just when we figure out all the answers, they change the questions! :)

No doubt.
The main reason I run 24/7 is so humidity does not spike. I can dim the lights and get the same DLI if I want to. The humidifier is 400 watts when it is running. I am not doing it from a yield perspective but making life easy and hopefully at about the same cost. i am pulling out almost 5 gallons a day right now.

That makes sense. I forget that I'm in a dry climate and not everyone else it. So, that's a good point.
