At the moment, 800's a little strong for them. I gave them an extra hour last night and saw some light avoidance by noon today. The pisser is that they're growing into the light. It's at 13" on the left and 14" on the right and the plants are growing into the light. I lowered the wattage this afternoon because it was easier than lowering the light.
The plant is literally growing into the light? I should be a little more clear. I almost always have between 12-18" between my canopy and my light fixture. Depends on their life stage. I generally have it around 12"-ish during flower. Since we moved I'm only running my 4x2 for the time being. That's a gorilla shorty with a 2' height extension. It's kind of a PITA to raise anything once it's higher than the original shorty roof height of 4'11". I literally have to snake myself up into the height extension, which is like a little tunnel to make adjustments sometimes. So once we get to a point where the plant isn't going to get much taller, I generally set the height and use the dimmer. If something is getting blasted, then I will raise it. I'm not complaining about the ability of being able to add height extensions to gorillas, it's awesome. But it can be tricky at times on a short tent like the shorty.
Some strains don't like, or want a lot of light either. The FB zkittlez was one I grew last year that comes to mind.
