Indoor GreenBean's Grows

Madwoman territory! When I started growing it was outdoors with photos. That shit is pretty tough with all of the elements and pests out here and a 6 month cycle. Moving indoors to a tent, I was like...MAN this is EASY! So I promptly grew about 12 photos in the old 8x4. And my first auto. Didn't take too long to figure out that I wouldn't have all that room for too long. Not to mention I was 2X over the legal limit here. I get it though, I get all excited and want to pop all the beans. I'm already picking my next run.
Well to be fair lol, 7 are just seeded pots (4 that have popped but 2 of which don't look to be doing too well) plus this lady who I'm just waiting on to chop after stunting the crap out of her by transplanting into nearly frozen soil lol.

Then just waiting for the other 3 autos to finish and then it will just be the 4 (5 if I can get my last Rucu bean to pop) photos over the summer. Plus all the outdoor comp plants of course lmfao! But those won't be in the tent so they don't count anyways

I need to run the AMR, Jean-o, Mango Smile and Glue Sniffer again as those were the 4 I had going that I had to chop when we had to move. Still heartbroken about that AMR plant, that was going to be a record yielder I think and it was a total pleasure to grow. But I can't run them all at once right now. So I will have to pepper them in over the next few runs, or so, after this one.

Pina Kaleidoscope day 28. Did a little lower canopy clean up last night before the feed, as well as a little more interior clean up. Also a little more gentle, canopy opening. She's poised for the stretch - if it comes. Decent structure, but a bit stumpy right now. She's in that awkward puberty stage I guess.

Bumped the nutes to 3.75g each on the V1/2 to see how hard I can push them. Not sure how well Mendel will take it. But Walter seems to be agreeing with that decision. Seems like it could be a waste of nutes. But I want to play around with juicing them a little just before they head to flower. Have to keep an eye on that as every plant has their needs and limits, and Walter is the younger of the two and may not be ready. But she's along for the ride, since I don't relish the idea of mixing two batches of nutes. That's gonna happen soon enough, because Mendel will flower first, and I'll have to mix V and B nutes separately. Sooooo.....let's see what HAPPENS!!!

Walter White: And now that the 2 week mark has passed, and after the topping, Baby Walter White looks like I might expect on day 18. May not be "Baby" too much longer. Filling out the pot nicely, and starting to move upwards.

Update on everything since the beginning of this thread.
This is just a general update on the thread since it’s inception. In case it’s too confusing for anyone catching up or stopping by. Things evolve and they have here.

Tent - gorilla shorty 4x2 with 2’ extension = 6’11” (formerly the veg tent). The 4x4 is currently out of commission due to our move, so the 4x2 is veg through flower.

Container size - the 10 gallon experiment is over. You can see the results of that a few pages back. Currently using 5 gallon fabric pots.

Lights - still using the Atreum 3 bar LED array at 320 watts. Meanwell driver mounted outside the tent. Samsung 301 and Cree IRs. Bar length on these babies is 46".

Strains - just 2 plants this run in the 4x2. Brother Mendel Piña Kaleidoscope and Mephisto Walter White.

Nutrients - Floraflex. Occasional silica. Dash of recharge in the early stages. CaliMagic on hand but rarely used past the first week before the nutes start. Emergency bag of Epsom salts on standby.

Medium - DIY coco mix 70% coco / 20% perlite / 10% vermiculite. Combined with 15-20% soil. I’m currently using FFHF as my soil portion.

Light schedule - 18/6.

Think that’s it?

Piña at day 29. She’s starting her stretch and the preflower is kicking in. Gained a little more vertical height over 24 hours. So I am beginning to open the canopy up more as she shows what she needs. Very gentle grommeting right now. Little leaf tucking. Little plucking. Getting a bit more light penetration and exposure to more areas. Still at around 600 PPFD. Starting to look good.

I'm seeing a tich of leaf bluing, so I need to watch that. I am now pushing almost 4g each of the Floraflex V1 and V2, This is mainly (in hopes of) encouraging a growth spurt and push in the Mendel as she heads to flower stretch. They seem to be handling it, but that is pretty much the max I can push them. Always interesting to see what different strains can take. The Twisted AMR, for example, absolutely blew up on only 2g V1/2.

Walter day 19. Chubby lil thing. Thinking she’s gonna be a chonker. Still need to clean up those damn wires! Waiting for a new fan mount and I’ll do it then.

The Mendel Piña is an interesting bird. Kind of temperamental. If you tuck leaves, those leaves will droop and stay droopy for a good while. Just pouts. A number of hours later, she’ll perk back up. I thought it’s been my imagination the whole time, but if you look at the after grommet photo from last night, you can see an interior leaf I tucked drooping. I think it’s the first time I’ve experienced that, or maybe I never paid attention. I mean, I’m just gently tucking. Anyone else ever experienced that?

I wonder what would happen if you tried some hardcore pinning?

I’ve had this twice I believe. Some strains can act real “hard done by” and droop for a bit then perk up again. It can also lead to a lot of twisted growth depending on how big the leaves are and so on. It’s happened to me for sure. I tucked some leaves last night also on my fastbuds tester and she was droopin for a couple hr then back up today. I dunno if it’s to do with the leaf tucking of training itself causing stress and the strain being a bit “weak”. Either that or it might Be another factor such as whatever’s you fed her last. Ive had a couple of strains droop and it made me think I was over watering. They’d droop themselves few hrs after being fed. Any time we grow new strains it’s like a surprise to us, because they are all different and just takes a grow or two to get to know the differences in the strain. If leaf tucking doesn’t expose the nodes so well, just take the leaves off that block them. I’ve defoliated a plant early stage in their life before because there was no “easy” way to expose the nodes. Most strains bounce back in an hr, or a few hr later. Bill ward on YouTube does this too, and his plants always bounce back

Yeah, I don't recall seeing this before. It's been an interesting plant overall. Seems like if you look at her from the wrong angle, she pouts.

This was before I fed too. I always do my canopy manipulation before I feed - I've snapped too many stems doing the other way around. Overall, she seems fine and on pace with most of my other grows.

Defoliation is coming. I do pluck early bottoms fairly soon. Then I give them a chance to stretch so I can see what is what before I start on the defoliation/ minor lollipopping. It's all interesting stuff for sure. Always learning...

Yeah I tend to feed then train because the water in the stems make them More bendy. However, I pulled down my main branch three days ago and it snapped. I was very gentle but I think she was a bit “fragile” from training two days before. I’ve made this mistake a couple times. But, what I can recommend to you and I seriously swear by it... advanced nutrients b-52. It contains all sorts of b vitamins and kelp etc. Any time ive pissed my plants off and I feed them b-52, they bounce back the same day. There’s controversy over it not working because plants can produce their own b vitamins. There is always controversy especially in this industry. But I’ve grown most of my plants without it, and they remain stressed longer, and don’t produce as dense buds. It’s strong stuff, and not to be confused with super thrive. When I snapped her main branch, i taped her back and her leaves were droopy and lifeless until around 2hr later she really did recover. It’s worth a shot, in my opinion it does exactly what it says on the tin. Wouldn’t even know she was hurt.
