you want to leave an inch or so of airspace and not pack the buds into the jar tight. They need to breath so as to end up with uniform moister content

Recently I have been dropping in a Boveda 62 (percent relative humidity) pack into the bottom of each quart jar to maintain constant relative humidity. I also vacuum seal the jars (although I do burp them now and then).
