Mephisto Genetics Froot's Mephisto - Basically Jurassic Park

let's see how things are growing :pass:

HBSS Day 63, still some way to go yet, 90 days maybe  Switched to MegaCrop day 61, might not be the wisest to mix things up this late in the game but i'm like a kid at Christmas with new stuff...little to no patience.

kinda boring thing to blow cash on but juggling two cheap ph pens is also boring, especially when they both say different things.
hopefully this serves me better! used it first time this morning, if i calibrated it correctly then happy days!

but wait, there's more!

i picked up a PPM/EC pen thing too, just a cheapy one. figured it'd be useful for the MegaCrop dosing as i move from liquid to powdered nutrients.
it's been an eye-opener for sure. :eek1:
my tap water is a little over 350 ppm, or 0.7 EC. that's not very good from what i've read...and is possibly the reason my plants have always been on the sensitive side and quickly bark at me if i push nutrients above a low 1ml per L for base nutes.
tested my runoff from the coco girl this morning with my new weapon - 3000 PPM :eek1::eek1::eek1:
general health is still okay as you can tell from the pics, but there's a few scabby leaves starting from the bottom and she's lost her sparkle the past week or so - less praying etc, few blemishes here and there - action needed i think.

not happy with 350+PPM water so i just invested in a RO water filter system. will arrive tomorrow so let's see if we can come up with a plan to save this pretty bit of bubblegum from the perils of high PPM :hump:

i plan on giving her a good flush through with low PPM/EC feed once i have a few jugs filled with RO. she's in around 10L of coco/clay pebbles 60/40 mix, so i'm thinking i'll run 350-400PPM feed through until runoff PPM is acceptable, maybe 10-15L would do it?

be nice it's my first try with coco and i was a bit late with my monitoring toys :rolleyes1: :thanks:

Pro lol no. Just keep it simple. I still use drops to test ph lol. I try not to water till run off cause it makes a mess maybe once during preflower and once at the end on purpose. Girls r looking good. The sparkle going away is natural that’s the trics going from clear to cloudy.

Man! That HBSS is looking awesome:pighug: Keep up the great work. For me, those are important tools in my arsenal.

That HBSS is one impressive plant, Froot! So frosty and that structure is perfect for piling on fat buds! Lots of openness and length! Nice growing, man! The other girls are coming along nicely too!

HBSS is looking on point! I'm gonna call it and say she's your finest to date. What a looker.

I water to run off nearly every feed when they get going. Don't take that as advice though, just what's seemed to work for me.

That apera pen seems to work pretty well. I felt like a mad scientist when I was calibrating it but it seems pretty good so far.

i see you have been buying some new toys id like your opinion on the new meter my water is a 0.2 ec out of my tap so im very lucky i think if its higher you already have a lot of calcium but dont hold me to it also for ro water in the summer i sometimes run a air conditioner unit and the tank on that is worth saving i suppose anyhow your girls look great and you should be well proud also i see your using megacrop i just got some myself but im gonna use my remo stuff 1st

Great looking HBSS. Sure looks healthy indeed.

Good you got an RO filter given how hard your tap water is. Did you get an RO Buddie? RO is great if you have irrigation lines like in autopot systems because the cal mag buildup from the tap water won't clog up lines. Also I like RO because regardless of what type of irrigation, all the minerals etc has been removed from the equation. So when I add MC or SC or BE I know that's all thats in the water. So I don't measure PPM after adding my nutes because I know exactly what is in there every time just based on how many grams of nute I added. I know Seabass, who is a great grower, told me once that his grows really improved when he switched from tap to RO. That is going to vary place to place based on the tap water, but given your hard tap water I bet you see an improvement.

Couple of tips on RO for you.
Get a float shutoff valve and mount it in a big 50 gallon pail and have your RO filter fill that things up so you always have a supply on the ready.
Check your PPM (using your new pen toy) of your RO filter water before adding nutes every time. Should be under 10 ppm. When you start to get towards 15 and it will happen as filters are less effective over time, you want to change the two filters upstream of the membrane. Those are cheaper than the membrane and if you change them at the right time your membrane will last longer. I keep a couple of each type of filter on standby. So recommend you get in some spare filters.

Yes, my water is a bit hard and I actually could probably use it if I were to teak things. But I use an RO filter. Your water is hard, and I would totally suggest a filter. Looks like you have one coming . It makes mixing easier . You start at zero and know exactly the strength of what you are feeding. What kind of Co o do you use? Good luck. Peace, slow

Always good to contact your local water processing provider and find out the actual PPM of tap water in your area. They can normally tell you the mineral breakdown, as they should have that info available for farms using the water on a large scale etc but that's a hassle.

An RO system is a bit dear and OTT (as in its not necessary without a full hydro system/ Res on the whole) so you may want to consider something like a Brita filter, I use one in a bucket when feeding the young ones.

The water comes out at around 6.0 and seems devoid of anything besides the flouride
