New Grower First time grow, wish me luck.

looks like 2 things to me, possibly a little under fed or the beginnings of a mag diff... nothing to panic over and easily fixed

Up your feed by a little. Add cal/mag into the feed with every feed if your not already... another thing you can do which is very cheap is folia spray with epsom salts (7g per ltr). I do this once a week in veg and my plants flipping love it. I find its the best way to stay on top of magnesium at the start of the grow under LED's (we have the same light...HLG for the win)... folia spraying is one of the best ways to fix a diff's quickly (especially in soil) and a must to build into your system.

On the watering thing, your in soil don't water that pot until you can lift it with one hand easily .... 5 gallons you say... that would be silly and you may put your back out... safety first bend those knees and two hands ;) ... the more you do it the easier it gets to tell the right weight for each pot size... Take note of what the leaves are doing at each stage of dryness and over this grow any many to come, build a mental picture of whats going on below the surface.
Timing that watering perfect is how to get the best out of soil even if you are watering all the pots at different times. I would often find one plant at peek feeding would need a feed every 24 -36hrs and another in the tent every 48 - 72hrs. That's using large 25ltr pots like your self

Hell yeah man thanks for the informative reply. Will look in the epsom salts for sure. I'll start with that - Up my CalMag feed to 1ml per 1L, might push my feed up ever so slightly and see how they like it. And I'll def. take your advice on the watering side of things. Good advice.

Ahoy lads. Another update, sitting on day 22. I'm pretty sure I've royally messed things up on this grow lol, but I am determined to at least finish and get it somewhat right. I know I definitely over watered. So I've changed things up a little bit. I think part of why plants aren't doing so great is because of humidity and top half of pot drying out, whilst bottom half is swamped. I've taken out my Dyson blower heater, replaced it with an oil heater. Downsized my 400cm oscillating fan to a 200cm and bought a decent sized humidifier, which is keeping my room about 40-50% RH. Because I'm using airpots, I bought myself a water moisture meter, which confused me even more lol. Down 3/4 of pot was a 6-7 moist, whilst top was a 2-3 dry. Outside of pots was all bone dry. So I'm sort of hoping things start to look a bit better.

A couple of plants seem to be going okay, and a couple look near ruined. I gave them all a light misty spray of epsom salts during dark period. Will give them another go in a weeks time. Have upped their feed to 1.5mL Bloom / 1L pH'd water w/ 1mL/1L CaliMagic. Have only fed them once in the last week though lol. And the Glueberry that looked over watered, still looks hunched over and overwatered.

Here are some photos.

So growth appears to be good, but just the leaves are yellow.

Mazar 1 is a lot shorter and a lot more compact.

Glueberry 1: Appears to be going okay, Still got that outer leaf yellowness.

And GB 2...which still looks over watered, right? lol

Cheese 1 which also looks over watered...

And cheese 2 which is growing pretty good I think.

And then the damned white widows.... damn I've really messed these girls up

Do the WW's look like a CalMag issue?

I look forward to reading anyone's diagnosis/opinion! :smoking:

Weren't those WW bottom leaves laying on the soil? I think that has caused the problem. Trim them off and get them out of the room as that may be a mold or other pathogen.

The yellowing on the other plant is a magnesium deficiency or PH problem.

Yeah they possibly could have been. I'll trim them off. I am pretty confident it is not a PH issue, I've tested the soil and test every feed.

How are you testing the PH in the root zone? How does AN's feed chart differ from Tangs? I would default to the vendors feed schedule because something is not in balance here.

I just looked at AN's computer chart for Sensi Grow vs. Tangs and you are missing suggested products and only feeding about 1/3 of recommended?

So I just bought one of those PH soil testers. The soil straight out of the bag was a 7. I tested a couple mins ago it was 6.8 or so.
AN feed chart as far as I know and I can understand, is 4mL/L (at this stage of the grow) but it was my understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong.... that autoflowers generally get fed 1/2 of the recommended dosage? As for not using the other suggested products, I was just trying to keep it simple, hence following Tang's easy feed schedule, and all the positive reviews.

No, it is not a general rule to go 50% strength on autos. It is MPE many strains have different nutrient needs. From your pictures a couple of plants look ok, a couple look a little hungry and a couple are showing signs of def.

I start plants germ @ 25%, Week 1 50%, Week 2 60% Week 4 80% and my last grow went 100% to the flush with House & Garden. I just let the plants tell me what to do. If I get a little tip burn I back off 10%

Alright, so it's been like two weeks since my last update. I thought about just letting this thread die (And I probably should've lol) but ah well. Slightly embarrassing posting my 'progress' but it is what it is. I believe my issues came because of over watering, which in turn stunted my growth. Not hanging my lights high enough to allow for stretch, and as pointed out in the above post, probably under feeding. I've done a lot more research and looked at a heap of other journals, and I'll look to amend in the future.

I feel like there was a reasoning for my over watering though - I'll try my best to explain. With the very small root system early on, I was watering all over the pot. Some running out the side of the airpot, some draining through the bottom. With the large fan blowing, exhaust sucking & low humidity, my soil was extremely dry on top, and around the sides, pretty dry an inch down....but probably 100mm-200mm down was quite moist. I know this because I ended up pulling a white widow and a cheese out, because they were beyond repair.
I tried to dissect best as I could and it seemed like a reasonable theory. Maybe there was something else, but I think that seems like a fair assessment.

All a learning curve and at least I'll end up with something to smoke :smoking:

I tried to do a bit of LST on the remaning girls. Not perfect, but it seemed to work okay I think.
I've upped their feeds. Light sits about 600mm above.

Now I didn't do any LST on Mazar 2. Well...I tried, but I accidentally bent and snapped the main stem. Like creased it over.... I just let it go and it appears to be kickin on alright, so that's a bonus.

So I do have a question, Mazar 2 has got some deficiency. What does this look like for anyone reading?

....And I'll show you my last plant lol...

By the time youve read this, she'll have left the room.
Well... there ya have it. I'll finish this grow up, re-assess, tweak and go again. Any feedback always appreciated :thanks::cheers:
