Mephisto Genetics First run LOS, featuring Ripley's, Fugue, and Creme Stomper

Yield from hydro grows can be phenomenal but I also seen good yields, upwards of 1.75 grams a watt from LOS Grows .... Quality / Taste I suspect “grows” to the LOS Side, I let ya know in about six weeks!
I did 4.1 grams/watt last winter. Quality was excellent (still is, I have lots of jars still). Just over 13 oz on 90 watts of COB.

Could you tell us more about the top dressing fish and 'oily fish'. What types of fish and any other stuff you want to throw in about it. That is super cool!
cheers

You don’t even need your own worm castings with this ..... http://olyfish.com/ but I like variety and will never stop raising the worlds best gardeners.

Oily Fish is the darkest, richest compost I’ve ever purchase - reasonable priced but shipping is the expense but then such a high value crop and I was buying street weed so not as of a biggie as may seem .....

I’ve topped dressed with Oily in veg and preflower ..... Now I’m using product from buildasoil called bud builder or buildabud, something like that, organic compost rich in flower power stuff ..... Go to buildasoil and you’ll see both oily and BuildaBud compost along with Malibu compost, not that is the cheapest place to buy but you can see recommended composts and other ingredients such as Karanja and alfalfa- not that you would buy there but the site helps my Stoner Memory.

Peace

Wow .....

Over 4 grams a watt ..... that’s off the charts .... have any been able to reproduce?

What brand light(s) or home made cob or kit ..... any other factors or sidelights involved ..... Photo or AF? Pot size?

Your average per plant is around 4 oz, if memory serves correct or rather if you get less than 4oz you consider failed grow ..... so what is average watt per gram over last X Months, any ideas?

I am sure you guys have mentioned more than once, but I am old and forget. What is your base soil of choice? I would imagine this is important, as I prefer certain Coco. Do you source it from somewhere or buy bagged? I started growing 20+ years ago, but went right to Hydro first. I saw my friend struggling with Organics, and bugs. So my first 7 years were DWC/Hydro. I moved to Coco, but treat it like Hydro. When you start with Hydro, the yields are hard to replicate when you switch to organics. You guys are getting excellent yields for organic growing. I know you guys use Neem oil and various stuff to detour bugs. That is my biggest concern. I have too much to lose by getting bugs. I dont want to get them and have to deal with getting rid of them. With all of the Organic material, how to you keep your bugs away? I don't like NEEM oil smell. I won't spray my plants, especially in or near flower with anything. Just wondering what you do to keep things clean. Awesome stuff guys . I love growing and sharing for this reason. We learn from each other. Peace, slow

Thank you slow, as I’ve said before we need to :pass:.... I’m always at ease when chatting with you ....

You need to grow in hydro LOS bro and it’s possible ...... that’s what you are seeeing with Sam .... If you go back to first few pages of my post you’ll see a HYDRO LOS Container .... let me explain .....

LOS SIP (self irrigated planter) HYDRO SOIL GROW with LOS ..... SIP Hydro will challenge any Hydro Grower’s Skills, especially if a blind smoke / handle test is involved ..... I believe the SIP Container is the magic bullet you want slow .... I kinda know you wanna grow LOS and this may clinch it once you know the following .....

My other pots are susceptible to bugs but not Sam’s SIP Container ..... Realy OldBoy says slow, really no bugs slow in a SIP LOS GROW and here is how you prevent, easy as 1-2-3 - even simpler than hydro slow, I’ll explain away ....

SIP is deep water hydro cultivation with soil .... In Sam’s case there is a plastic cover over the top of all that LOS / Dressings / Mulch and Amendments ..... A plastic cover between Sam and the Soil it makes nematodes and the like can’t exist, they can’t go thru the plastic, right ...... No neem spray Brother .... But I do have neem in my soil as well as insect frass and Karanja ..... add to that if your plant contains over 12% sugars, bugs won’t bother them anyways, a Brix Meter will tell me but I suspect most healthly plants qualify .... bugs attack weak and sick, not the healthly plants ..... as we saw in the Battle, weak plants get hit ......

also soil bugs are often associated with overwatering, a SIP Container is never over or under watered, capillary wicking prevents and plant receives exact right amount of moisture and when working correctly the plastic cover sweets and drips back down into the soil, brilliant ..... makes watering as simple as pouring into a spout and measuring level with a dipstick ..... Sam only one time had very minor leaves turned down, I knew something wasn’t right, quick check of water and yep, it needed water, within 15 minutes we returned to normal ....

As for soil I use a mix of bagged store purchased LOS soil .... the soil I wanted to used for this grow was KIS Biochar Water Only Soil but that won’t work very in a SIP ..... SIP Containers need a soil heavy in peat as they wick water up into the soil .... the soil stays constant 100-120 millibar range, the plant is NEVER OVERWATERED or UNDERWATERED - NEVER ..... So I had to improvise and mix in another LOS soil from buildasoil called Malibu LOS plus then I added two gallons of compost from mumworm bins (raised worms before I grew so had head start on that ingredient) .... added some rock dust, kelp and a touch of neem and barley for the worms ..... watered soil, let it sit a day or so until it got to 100 millibar range and sprayed misted untIl transplanted ..... when I transplanted I barely sprayed around plant and very little water for several days .... I did load my soil with microizzie whatever root stuff and made perfect transplant hole with old pot and slipped into soil ..... By the way, Happy Frog works extremely well in a SIP Container but not for LOS Grow rather p if you wanna follow Fox Farm Feeding Schedule you would probably outgrow 90% of the soil folks and a lot of hydro guys who have def issues simply because watering is always right, always ....

So you say your old home was perfect for LOS, I submit except for worm bin, which you can do in an apartment btw, I see no reason to grow any other way no matter where I live if I have space to grow I have space for LOS ..... my next grow will be all in SIP containers, I’m working / thinking / studying different sizes and styles ......

Im also, looking at some lights and tent .... I’m now understanding that a 4x4 tent doesn’t mean 16 sq foot of grow space as the environment is so key to growing, probably overlooked by many, I know I did.

Peace!

Hope this helps .... do go back to the start of my Journal, you’ll find more info, especially in the early pages!

My old home was in the country. I could do anything out there. I have limited space for anything outside here. I will keep watch, reading, learning how you guys do your thing. I have seen LOS done poorly and it is a ton of work to get sub par results. You guys are knocking it out of the park. Good info and work.peace, slow

You don’t need to keep anything outside but I do understand - keep watching and I will need your help with this last lap so appreciate your input!

Best,
OB

Oly fish from Malibu. I thought maybe you were top dressing some type of "oily fish" like smelt. My bad. I figured you were a fisherman, and it was maybe a homemade deal. It all makes much more since! We have a product up here called 'fishy peat', similar deal. Made local with fish processing weight.
cheers
