I start my seeds with those little Jiffy pucks that swell up to 6 times their size and keep them under a plastic dome in one of those starter trays. If they are fresh seeds I don't paper towel them. I just plant them in the cubes less than 1/4 inch deep. I like to keep insects off of them. Lots of time for organics after the seedlings get by the damp of stage and are starting to show roots out the bottoms. In the past I have had little worms attack my seeds in soil. I always thought the worms were small hatched maggotts but don't know for sure. I am having a much better hatch rate this way. I keep the tray on a heating bad turned to low except in the warmth of the Summer when I don't bother with the heating pad.
This method works OK for my bubbly tank as the Jiffy pots go right into the little red clay balls and dont fall apart in the hydro tank. They also work fine in Cana, Coco or soil.
Yea, i dont have a clue what the lil worm is but i def. had the same thing happen to 2 of my seeds. One of them was while i was germinating them in a paper towel. And the other was a seed i dug out of the dirt and had a lil whitish tan worm hanging off of where i had a nice taproot previously. Pissed me off pretty tough tho thats for sure. Best of wishes to ya flwr.
As long as its pretty good badseed, chances are you should get sum pretty good too.
Thanks everyone. I think I am going to germ some bag seeds and plant them. That way if they die off I am not losing any cash. If they sprout above soil then I will try the last Onyx.
Both of the new onyx seeds I planted are goners. The seed with the worm I trashed too.
On a good note, my two stunted Onyx are growing well. I have two photoperiod seeds, Connie Chung and Sour AK. I wanted bud faster that is why I was going with an autoflower. I hate to order more seeds, but may have to pick up more autos. Will see how much cash flow I have this week as I am staring Xmas shopping.
I get a lot of my seeds from my local breeders cup seed swap. I also buy seeds. I keep and old can used to have tea in it on my dresser top and throw all my change in it except for the loonies and twonees (one and two dollar Canadian coins), It amounts to about two hundred dollars a year. I put it on my pay as you go charge card and keep it only for seed purchases. This way it just makes seed buying almost a daily thing and I never feel that I don't have the money to buy seeds. Has about 2 lbs of coins in it now so will soon be time for me to order more seeds. Yahoo!!!

I have decided to finish out the original Onyx in the rubbermaid. The plan is to purchase the $82 tent that was reviewed on this forum. I am going to buy the fan, etc. needed to set it up. Also, plan on buying 10 reg MI5 seeds. Thinking of 3 MI5's in the tent in 3 gallon pots.
The original Onyx were transplanted on the 17th. I moved them into smaller pots of the mix of Roots Organic, perlite, and lime. They loved the transplant. No shock at all, and have shown a lot of growth. Well, a lot of growth for them lol. They're still small plants, but I think look alright despite their size. They're flowering, and I switched my bulbs over. The Roots Organic soil feels so much better than the MG Organic. The Roots dries out a lot faster too. The MG was staying wet for a week or more. Watered with flowering nutes, Better-Gro Bloom Booster at 1/4 strength today. Plan on giving them some Oregonism xl next watering.
I know right! If I would have researched better. I would have found that tents aren't that expensive. Cheaper and easier than a rubbermaid for sure. Dimensions of tent are 60" x 48" x 24"
AndyBotwin has one, and I think a few others have it on this forum. $82 flat too, no tax or shipping w/ Amazon on the tent.
