New Grower First grow journal

So I've been holding off watering for a few days, planning for a flush before upping the nutrients. Two nights ago I noticed what appeared to be heat stress on some of the upper growth. I figure she's grown too close to the light and I raise it up a few inches.

Heat stress ?

The next morning I check on her before work and she seems unchanged. When I arrived back home and took another look, I almost shat myself. It was shocking how fast a plant can go from looking fine to looking like it's about to die.

I'm guessing the surface soil still appeared moist because of condensation build up every "night" when the lights are off. Seeing the plant like that, I could only pray she was thirsty as I don't think I could save her from anything else. So I began my almost literal flush (yes that's a toilet she's on) and hoped for the best...

Thankfully, Salona began to quickly recover.
Here she is, less than 40 minutes later.

And again 105 minutes after flushing.

Other than some leaf tips still curled, she's looking completely recovered"pher Wiggle". Still a frightful event that I hope no-one here has to go through.
I imagine it will cost me some bud in the long run, so I'm hoping for smooth sailing from here to harvest.

Good job dude!

Very nice save man. I would have almost shat myself too haha.
Just looks like a little bit of heat stress.

Day 35 Update:

Salona seems to have stopped with new vegetative growth and has been working hard forming bud sites all over. I counted 16 'major' ones and several smaller 'minor' sites all over the plant.
Still using the general and veg nutes at about 1/3 strength and 2x dosage frequency. Will switch veg to flowering nutes next weekend if she continues to focus on her buds. Will switch to the yellow MH light tonight and do my best to sit on my hands and watch her continue to develop.

I may need to harvest in 50 days as I may need to move out by May 1st, so I hope she's ready by then (or I can give her more time). That's probably a worse-case scenario, but does harvest look possible in 50 days, or does she obviously need more time ?

They looks good man.
Did they stop stretching yet?

I believe a harvest in 50 days, which would put you at 85 days of growing..and generally strains go 70-85 days. Sometimes more but generally from my experience is around 70-85 days is plenty. :Sharing One:

Looking good..your sure on the right track in my eye's...

Thanks:peace:

Good to know :smoke:. She seems to have stopped vegging, but I feel like I'm raising the lights every other day so there's still some stretching going on.

Thanks man:Cheers:. I hope I am indeed on the right track as I only have the one plant this grow, no jungle like you've got :Growing::Growing::Growing:

Very nice man. Sounds like it will be ready for the bloom nutes soon once the stretch has stopped. Which sounds like its in its last moments of stretch.

Still Growing

Just a minor update:Did some measurements today and Salona is 33" tall and 26" wide at her furthest points. Bud sites have been forming all over the place, filling the tent with her sweet fragrance. I count about 100 in total now. Gonna keep tending her needs as best as I can and hopefully have a good harvest in a few more weeks.

Getting Worried

It seems a lot has happened over the last few days, and I have a lot to update. So please bear with me as I may be in need of help :help:

At first, Salona seemed to be happily making buds and looked (to me) to be on the right track...

A couple of days later, I started noticing a lot of changes. I think I gave one too many feedings of veg nutes because she started showing some serious signs of "the claw" after temps started to rise in the tent (32-34c/90-95f):fire:. I've since added ventilation and the temps are down to the low 70's and 40%RH.

IMAG3686.jpg <- Is this "clawing" due to nitrogen toxicity ?

I also noticed one of the old leaves at the bottom of the plant was dying out, and I wasn't concerned at first...

But now it seems several of the fan leaves are starting to turn yellow and it's getting me concerned. I know it's a normal phase late in flowering but it seems much too soon (day 42).

Not really noticeable under the lights, I will add a picture under natural lights soon.

Lastly, her stems are turning purple near the bud sites. Not sure if it's normal/good/bad so I thought I would add that as well.
IMAG3690.jpgIMAG3691.jpg

I'm hoping there's nothing too serious going on, as I don't have access to all the specialized nutrients and my pH tester is only good for poking air holes into the dirt. I am currently feeding a general health nutrient at 1/4 strength and cactus food (read it was an alternative to flowering nutes in a pinch) at 1/2 strength. Watering every couple of days, alternating between pH 7 water and nutrient water. Are things not looking as bad as I fear ? Is there still hope, or is my first attempt going to turn in fluffy, undersized buds ?
Any help is greatly appreciated :Grow & Show..:

ps. I have been rotating my plant 45 degrees every day or two in attempt to give a bit more light to some of the shadier areas. Could this have any negative effects ?
