Lopped the top half of the bigger one's top cola last night - was getting amber trichs and wanted to give the rest of the plant a better amount of light. Quick-dried half for an evaluation and was quite pleased with the result (beyond the leafy/chlorophyll taste). The rest is in a jar to cure up. Looks like this is going to be a piece-by-piece harvest as there are a lot of pretty nice 1-2g looking buds that'll probably flesh out really well given the chance and a better seat with the lighting. The tops are nice and all photogenic and all, but sometimes the needs of the many must outweigh the needs of the one.

Looking good. Oh yea, a lot of new growers often underestimate the smell. LOL, try growing some Diesel Ryder. That really smells.

Ha @Muddy I've got a couple cheese riding the bench waiting a turn. Something tells me I'm going to be doing some duct work.

Yep, pretty inevitable. Ona can only take you so far.

I've actually sketched up a pretty smart way to get co2-rich air in and the stank up and out. Just with these two plants I've been riding it out with the band-aid odor control and chose instead to buy better supplemental lighting. But next time, oh most definitely. The smell doesn't make it outside, but it's annoying the wife. I smoke cigarettes and she doesn't, so I have to trust her that it's worse than I think. (Maybe...) Then again, she just got to try the first little sample last night and was floored that it was from the garden - steady supply = wiggle room, roight?

First indoor grow I did I purposefully grew Diesel Ryder to see how well my ventilation was working. As long as the door was closed everything was good, no smell anywhere else in the house. But as soon as I opened the door that whole end of the house would start to smell. If I needed to work on them I would take them into the bathroom, close the door and turn the vent fan in there on. That worked pretty well.

My wife wasn't too keen on my growing indoors till I ran the numbers for her and showed her how much we would save, plus. Now she's like, when are you going to have that new hydro area set up and going?

Mr. Farley. What is the aroma of the critical mass at this stage.

@alan it's pretty piney actually. not a whole lot of citrus - a darker, danker sort of smell. since some of the trich's on the top cones have started going red it's really been getting thick, feels like you could cut the aroma inside the room.

@muddy - i did a similar "spreadsheet approach". even if we only yank 30-40g's off these first two combined, they've paid for themselves and everything else is in the bonus round. to say nothing of the fact that there's no more satisfying smoke out there than your own.
