I prefer to use perlite with my coco, it helps the roots travel through the coco better(fast growth).. It keeps the coco from compacting and retains moisture better once the roots become big, I agree with what @Mañ'O'Green said that it helps prevent dry pockets... Perlite really lightens coco, I mix mine around 70/30...

Thanks guys. I think rooting has been a big growth rate problem since the beginning. I'll soon know if pH was a factor, too.

Day 15: I'm probably going to lose the Forum Stomper soon, which may be for the best considering my tent is better suited for three plants in a triangle anyway. This is the first morning I haven't seen any significant change in its size. Spotting on the other older plants doesn't look much worse than yesterday, but the Forum Stomper continues to deteriorate--I've read some strains are more sensitive certain deficiencies and this looks like one.

Pride and frugality: the only reason I haven't started over entirely. I just hope the slow growth has slowed the cycle a bit and that they don't start flowering on time as dwarfs. Mephisto's grow guide does say slow growth can delay transitions...

I had to start all over with bag seed my first grow because I had given my plants photoinhibition. I spent like $70 for those Jack Herer auto and ruined them to where they were smaller than yours at two weeks.

What made you choose coco for your first grow?

As a cheaper, cleaner hydro setup. I didn't want dirt in the house and all the potential bugs that entails, and I wanted more direct nutrient control. I was originally going with a coco/perlite combo, but then came across a few 100% coco guides and went with that instead. My results are going to be shit, but I'll stick with it.

I really don't care about yield though (only my pride does). I'd be fine with a dry ounce total. Next time I'll have perlite, and accurate pH readings from the beginning.

once your ph pen comes in you could always do a good flush...coco i flush @6.0 (3times the pot volume)then introduce nutrients @5.96-5.98 at half strength until there is approx 10% run off... This will ensure your ph is locked in and also give them a nice dose of nutes to help them thrive... That is what I would do instead of just tossing the plant, you got nothing to loose really... I'm sure it will help...it's like you'll be starting from fresh except everything will be in correct ranges...

your yield may not be shit, you don't know what the out-come will be yet... if you flush that one, I'm certain it will help you...and be back on track later today not in a few days, thats the awesome thing about coco.

I'll do that right away if you don't think it's too late.

hell no, it's not too late... if ya got your ph pen make up several gallons and run it through the pots ...(but please don't pour water around the roots or base of that plant, maybe an inch inch & half away from the base) and don't pour too quickly I tend go around pot in circles moving further out each pass...I'll put 1/2-1gal in kinda slowly over several mins... then after 10 mins or so the next, until you get 3 times the volume through and let all that stop dripping completely and mix up a gallon of nutrients at half strength and pour that slowly also until you get decent amount of run off, I think you'll be able use most or all of the 1 gal mix... you want plenty of run off after this flush so you know the coco saturated with nutes & correct ph... coco will dry up fairly quick so won't be nothing to worry about there...I'm certain it will help you...

remember 6.0ph for flush
5.96--5.98ph for nutrients.

was this coco rinsed/soaked with 6.0ph & also given a pre-charge? if not you may want to run the whole 3 times the volume through 3gal pot=9gal water plus 1 gal when you add nutes at half strength. usually I stop when I see the water running clear, but since we trying resolve issues and get yours back on track it might be better to do the whole 9gal it will take some time like a few hours, you not want to run it through to quickly and damage the roots...but once you finish that today, tomorrow the green should really start showing up and plant will just look more healthy and things like that.
