New Grower Duckster's First Adventure

Damn forgot to add a couple of picys from today

Here is Talula on day 27. She's small for her age but looks healthy to me.

Sonya on day 10. She looks healthy to me too and much much better than Talula did on day 10

Hey, Duckster, I finally caught up. I've been reading you for a couple of days now, getting up to speed. It looks like you have a killer setup. The list of nutes is pretty impressive too. I'll be keeping my eyes on you. BTW, I thought I was an old man in a young man's forum, but I see there are a few of us hanging out here. However, you are already a great grandad? That makes me feel like a pup. My oldest (35) still hasn't given me a grandchild. The others are a little too young to start families imho. Great grandad and growing weed for the first time. Damn, life never ceases to amaze me. All my respect goes to you, sir.

Hey Trop Thanks for stopping by.

Yes but a nice setup doesn't quite compensate for stupid mistakes and lack of patience. lol

Yes check out the "How old are you" thread. There are at least 100 over 50s that have responded to the poll.

Not really my first attempt at growing. Tried an indoor grow in my garage about 25 years ago. Did not really know what I was doing and the abundance of information was not available on the internet like now.

Yeh, I'm kind of young to be a greatgrandpa became a grandpa at 40. Granddaughter is now 21 with her own baby

OK Noticed a problem on Talula (day 30) this morning. Two of the lower leaves are yellowing up. It's kind of hard to see the yellowing if you make the pictures bigger but you can see it in the thumbnails.

I thought it looked like a mag. deficiency. Posted this with a couple of pics on the infirmary thread. I got a variety of responses but the general consensus was that she's hungry, so I fed 2 liters today
1ml/l GH CaliMagic
2 ml/l AN Voodoo Juice
2 ml/l AN pH perfect Grow
2 ml/l AN pH perfect Micro
2 ml/l AN pH perfect Bloom
2 ml/l AN B-52

We shall see how she looks in a couple of days.

Here is a pic of Sonya day 13. Sonya Day 13.jpg
She also got 2 liters at the above levels. We shall see if she can take it.

Lots of undergrowth on Talula. Gave her a little lite bondage to try and get some more light in there. No pics of that yet. More adjustments to make. May even give Sonya a bit too.

Hey pal , hope Talula perks up, Sonya now she is looking healthy, don't think i would be hitting her with all them nutes at that age ,but we all have to walk our own path i guess.Hows ya temps doing got it under control? oh and what distance have you got that LED at, the wife might be getting me a LED,I moaning about temps that much she is asking about what will help, haha, well i said a led for a start dear:).

Talula wasn't too bad - just a couple of leaves were yellowing. Seems to be recovering already. Still got a few purple stems but I think the yellowing is starting to fade. I bent her over big time. Trying to get some light to the tiny leaves underneath. I can see that the undergrowth has gone nuts in just one day. Damn, I may be able to get something off of this plant yet.

Sonya seems to be loving the nutes. Trying to adapt Tangs AN feed schedule to my setup. He uses Sensi grow A & B and sensi bloom A & B for his base nutes. I'm using their beginner level trio of grow, micro, and bloom as my base. My girls got a late start this round. But next round I plan to start feeding at 10 days.

Temps seem ok. My plant level temps with the lights on are running 8-9F above my room temp. My cab is in the warmest room in the house and it rarely reaches 78F so the plants are getting highs at 87-88. I don't see any signs of heat stress yet so I think I'm good.

I think a LED is going to help you some on the temps. How high are they getting. What kind of differentials are you seeing between inside the cupboard and just outside the cupboard? Awesome that the wife is starting to come round.

Hey pal,

Glad they they both doing well, and enjoying their feeds;"i bent her over big time" lol i must just have a smutty mind but that line didn't make me think of the plants, and whatever Talula gives will be a blessing i am sure.Good old Sonya for being the party girl and taking to her feeds, i reckon i will be as stressed feeding them anything as i was germinating them.

I never even thought about measuring outside temps until now, its when the heating is on that i suffer most. have hit like you high 80,s perhaps i worry too much, in your case i have read in one of Tangs threads its better to have a warmer cab/grow space under led.

Yea its good she is coming around, lol the next hurdle will be if they start to overpower the cf (i wish) but one hurdle at a time, going to leave the computer open on the mars-hydro 300 page the cheaper old model and hope for the best.i already thinking about how i can/where to build a veg space with the cfl then have then under that for a month then go under the led to finish off, slaps myself for running before i can walk.
Take care pal.

Great to see Talula getting better, dont reckon it stunted her at all you caught it early and looked to have solved it, she still got some growing to do, along with the great stretch so she gonna be alright. Yeah that is get some light in there and force them lower branches to start growing out.

Am with you on feeding earlier, something i learned and will change from my grow. Am gonna feed the root stimulator from day one all the way to week 4 starting lightly, and very light feed grow nutes and calmg from days 5-6 bumping up to full strength by end week 2, think this is a advantage to light soils as you really get to control whats in it from day one without pushing the little ones to hard.

I think that is a big part of the fun. Continuous improvement, trying something a little different each time. Pushing the envelope. Sure other people have done the things that I want to try, but I haven't. lol

For me, this all started about the smoke. Had gotten very tried of smoking the same old Mexican brick weed. And sometimes not even able to get that. Now, although the primary goal of having decent buds to smoke remains the same, there seems to be several other secondary drives that are motivating me. weird
