Harvest & Curing Drying in a brown bag

I use free boxes from the US Postal Service. And I punch some holes for ventilation, or leave the box not fully sealed.

I use a combination of hang dry and large paper bag methods:

I wet trim, then hang to dry 3-4 days until I can hear the stem sorta crack - but its still pliable for the most part. I then put the buds in a large brown grocery store bag laid out horizontal (not standing up) and held closed with a clothes pin under a gentle ceiling fan. I rotate contents a couple of times and do this for around two days until buds feel dry but still give in to light pressure.

After I trim off the stems and jar, I check the moisture content with small hygrometers. If I see the rh% over 70%, I'll put them back in the brown bag another day. Ideally, I like to jar and start my curing process when the rh% is around 65% and start curing/burping from there. Finally, I long term store with a 62% Boveda pack after several weeks of curing.

For sure, there are as many various curing methods as there are growers out there. Each of us develops our own special touches over time.

Hi there,

for my previous (limited) grows I have hung my plants to dry, but I'm going to have a staggered harvest this time around with one plant finishing before the other and was considering the brown paper bag method.

If I place the trimmed bud in a brown paper bag perhaps a third full, seal it with laundry pegs and hang the bag it in my tent, will this work in theory?

My lights will still be on as my second plant will still be finishing up. I have to keep all drying/growing plants in the tent for security purposes! Any feedback appreciated!

That sounds like the way to do it! :D give the bag a little rustle every day or so, to make sure the buds dont sit on top of each other and rot. Try cutting the buds into goldball sized peices to help them uniformly dry.

Needs must, and i say it's not that big of a deal. It's what i do, and if they're in bags, they're not getting much if any direct light (which as the enthusiastic will tell you "will degrade the THC" .... and we don't want that!).
My last plant kinda got neglected due to life and christmas and was left to dry in the pot .. with the light on. It still knowcks me on my ass ^_^ so can't have degraded them "that much"

Hope this helps for a stress free finish to your grow! ^_^
