Harvest & Curing Drying in a brown bag

My hygrometer has now been in the jar 8hrs + and is reading 70% RH, safe to say I haven’t over dried them as first thought! Will now juggle between jars and brown paper bags as per the advice of you chaps. Hopefully achieve a nice slow cure.

Glad I jarred them when I did though, they dried so quick! I double lined the brown paper bags, but obviously not thick enough!
Nice and slow!! Thats the key.. I like nine around 58% locked up!!

Hey, I am about to chop my first plants and am going to dry in brown paper bags. My main concern is that RH may be too low in my grow tent. It's been as low as 30% the last week. Should I try increase the humidity of my tent? Or will it be ok and they will just dry quicker?

Thanks
Harvested first half of my plant two weeks ago and dried at 30%. Too low matey. 4 days and plants were down to 20% humidity after I jarred them. LUCKILY I was a pro and all I did to remoisturize was catching some vapor coming out of my ultrasonic humidifier and closed the jars. Took me a two days and now they've been curing at 62% RH and smelling more pungent every day!

Drying my second half of plant with 40-45% rh RIGHT now and it's going so much slower and controlled. Doubt I'll notice a taste /smell difference between first harvest and this one but will be interesting to see.

In conclusion. Anything below 40% will dry the plant too damn fast and you will have to remoisturize

Edit : Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty

Brown bagging buds work well with controlled amounts ...
I put a small hygrometer in with buds ... Roll bag closed .
" ROLL " closed bag every day to redistribute buds ... Then check internal RH.

BAG WILL STILL BREATHE , BUT slows the drying ( which you can monitor ).

Once they " range " into desired RH ... They get jarred.

In general how much does the plant matter shrink, more specificly the buds after a good 3-5 days of drying, be it hanged or in brown bags?

Definitely trying this method out!

thanks for any feedback

Hey guys is it ok to put the bags in my tent to dry? Bear in mind that I still have plants growing . I do run leds and my temps avg 80 -68 degrees Fahrenheit with about 40% Rh. I like the carbon filter for smells

Harvested half of my first plant last night using the brown bag method. I rolled it closed about halfway and placed the bag in an empty cubbord (Per an old post I found from Tang explaing how he used brown bags). The temp is 73f and the RH is 47-49. I was going to place them in my tent to make use of the carbon filter out of fear of the smell, but the smell is pretty well contained to the bag and cubbord. I wanted them to be in as dark of a place as possible so I opted not to use the tent. Many people do though, and just hang the bag above the light fixtures.

just done my 2nd harvest again using paper bags this method rocks also no hay smell mine normally take 4 days or thats when i have to monitor them closer my only advise just cover the bottom dont have stacks in them

Used brown paper lunch bags.
They fold small, and can fit back in tent on top of charcoal filter.

One hard grown plant took 6 bags lined single layer, and day three was almost too dry..caught just in time to put in jar.

Love this method

Been drying my first harvest in paper bags for 5 days now. Tried jarring them last night, but they were at 73% after a few hours. Moved them back to the bags overnight and re-jarred about 2 hours ago, and they read 55%. Hoping they'll come up some over the course of the day! Smoke is already pretty smooth, and the buds smell great!

Is it ok to dry in brown bags in a grow room with cob lights on?
