Lighting DIY mars conversion. Questions and answers here.

ok, so you are saying, 2 50v citizens, that the will push 48v each driver, at 30w a cob?
Yes, they should work since the driver has a 100v max. If they don't it just won't turn on and you will need to remove one. Even with 2 cobs per light your still outdoing what you had

What do you think about just buying the cobs on ebay in bulk??? you can fake that right lol I'm probably wrong

It's worth a shot. Worst case they will be older versions and not come with a factory warranty but I haven't seen any issues yet with them.

I got my light open today and took pics @BigSm0 l found like 10 burnt diodes and its only on the second run lol. I would really appreciate you helping me figure out what to buy.

Sorry to hear. Without trying to sound like a complete dick it's because they use the cheapest parts possible. Cheap leds, drivers, heatsinks, and even fans. That's why this thread is so popular. Others are in the same situation and rather upgrade the parts that are the weakest. Bulk pricing on parts helps but also buying in this category of quality is what allows people to buy them so cheap. There is no real solution besides replacing the leds with cobs.

Ya that's what i'm trying to do upgrade to cobs I'm just having a hard time figuring out which ones and how many I need to get. Also don't sound like a dick it is crap lol, I was unaware when I bought it.

If you head back to page 9 another guy has the same drivers in his light with the recommendation. Should be able to get 2 50v citizens per driver. 30w per cob, 60w per driver. Citizen clu048-1812 or 1818 cobs with bjb holders.

On the drivers not running a fan would they be able to run 3 or would that not work? Thanks again for the help @BigSm0

That's where it gets tricky. The ones that run fans will take away voltage from driver so they may not be able to run 2 cobs. For the light itself I would probably only run 8 cobs in total. What's the overall size?

Something like

xooooox
oooxooo
xooooox
oooxooo
xooooox

X would be the cobs. 240w at 60% efficiency 140+ par watts
