Grow Mediums Cat tries the 1st Northern Lights grow in coco

Thanks @Bailey @Fuggzy. When I got the current fan, I noticed it's fixed with some kind of fasteners rather than screws and I'd likely muck it up. I've been looking at this filter by Rhino. What d'ya think? It has a 350M3/hr rating. The current filter is only 200m3/hr and the actual fan is 220m3/hr. I don't want to spend too much coz I'll upgrade soon when I move into the bigger cupboard. I just need to be sure it's doing its job, as I've no way of knowing when it connects to the chimney. Thanks guys

You don't need to unscrew anything bro just fill a pair of tights or a sock with carbon secure the top so the carbon don't fall out and place inside ure filter and wrap the new sleave around and ure done

But I don't understand how I'm supposed to open carbon filter to get the carbon inside

m confused on this also @Bailey
I've been thinking about this and think @Bailey means to put the carbon inside a sock and place in the middle of the filter....I think? Anyway, I decided just to take the plunge and order the Rhino filter. When I looked yesterday, it guaranteed delivery on Monday. That changed to Tuesday this morning, so I thought I'd better move as my home smells of weed:doh:

The end caps of the filter should be held together by rivets. To remove a rivet, take a drill and get a bit, just a hair arger than the center of the rivet. Start to drill in to the center of the rivet, they are made of aluminum. It will shave the end of it off and release the other side of the rivet.
This video will show you how.

A rivet gun and rivets can be found at a hardware store. I would think you can get the gun for $10-15. Rivets are pretty cheap.

I personally think it is betterr to replace the carbon where it already is. The air flow of a filter is omnidirectional and by placing the carbon in the center you are not going to have even air flow. Thus potentially leading to critical failure again, and being in the same spot you are in now.

This could/will also result in reduced air flow and potentially creating problems with fresh air being cycled through. By all means do what you can and what fits the budget, but w/e you do, do it right the first time. ;) There is a reason that most carbon filters are fashioned in the same design, cause it works. Take a look at a few diy filters also, it may help you understand the process a bit more.

I would remove the end of the filter, dump and replace the carbon, and attach the end of the filter back just how it was. Leaving 100% of manufactures design intact.

Eeek drills and me don't get along too well. I wouldn't trust myself to do that. I bought a rhino hobby filter. Volume is 350m3/hr and the fan is 220m3/hr, so I hope it will do a better job. The smell of weed is aggravating my paranoia. I was pumping the smell into the chimney for weeks and it may well be seeping into my neighbour...oops Thanks @Fuggzy you're always a very helpful bundle of knowledge:pass:

Here’s some pics of my younger Northern lights auto at 70days old. I’m now reducing her feed from 1.9ec to 1.7. I currently mix 2.5ml calmag & 5ml Flora bloom to 1 gallon of water.

The sister plant hasn’t grown as well, but I think this is due to human error. Buds look pathetic but are full of trichs and it shouldn't be long until flush

Yesterday I decided to trim some of the weak branches from the centre of the plant. The leaves were light green and the buds were airy and becoming too damp from watering. I’ll be trying these tonight!
