New Grower Auto Berry Feminized first auto indoor grow for an old gardner...

These autos do everything fast, including depleting magnesium which has taken two days to develop and me to diagnose. I did listen and ordered the stuff but this damn weather has delayed shipping. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow but to keep myself from pacing all day today, I dug out some chemical fertilizer I had for boosting blooms which has magnesium in it. Is Peters Professional Super Bloom Booster and mixed at half the recommended strength for indoor plants. I only did a foliar feeding because they're chemicals and I'm growing organic and I read that foliar application is recommended for uptake of magnesium.

My only question is... Am I flirting with disaster with what I just did? I hope not. I used to feed my indoor weed miracle grow that way back in the 70's so I'm not too nervous. But these are autos and I know some really don't like a lot of nutrition. At least that's what I read... That's why I mixed at half strength... Fingers crossed.

If this does work I'll just start adding camg to the water on a routine basis moving forward.

Not too upset about this as it was bound to happen sooner or later. I'm glad it happened sooner so I can learn how to avoid it in the future as well as how to fix it once it's happened, God forbid it should happen again.

Hi Rhyce,

Cal/Mag deficiency is almost a given with autos under LEDs. I would recommend giving some every time you water. Silicon is another thing that LED folks seem to like but since you are growing in a mineralized soil I believe they may be getting enough. Epsom Salts is an easy and available source for magnesium BTW.

Are you using some sort of wetter/sticker with your foliar spray? Really important to use for MJ to get good absorption, also important to spray both the tops and bottoms of the leaves.

Happy Growing

Olds,

I did mist both the tops and bottoms as I'd read that most of the magnesium that would get absorbed would be from underneath. So thanks for confirming this. No, I am not using a wetter/sticker but my garden center might have this. Meantime I did give another application of my emergency mix this morning.

I ordered this "General Organics CaMg+" and it's arriving this afternoon. I'm seeing what appears to be a little calcium deficiency on one this morning so when this stuff arrives, I'll do a water some into the soil to get some calcium uptake.

Like I said, it'll be nice to get a handle on this and tuck this one away in my memory banks...

How long should I expect it to take before I start seeing improvement?

Thanks again for the tips. RS :thank:

I found an article that was very informative about mist application of minerals and nutrients... I used Dawn as a wetter.

The delivery man just showed up with my stuff (General Organics CaMg+)... I wish I'd remembered this last weekend. Oh well, live and learn.

Doh!
:Hookah:

I already made the recommended treatment for plants in this condition and applied a quart of water/camg+ solution (1tsp) to the soil/roots.

I didn't spray the leaves at all because I'd been applying the Peters with magnesium in it earlier and already see signs of the magnesium replenishment on leaf surfaces. When the magnesium problem started going away, the calcium def's started showing up (easier to see) so it will be interesting to see how things go over the next twelve hours. :pH Reading..?:

The emergency spray (Peters) mix and subsequent CaMg+ enhanced watering appear to be reversing the visible signs of the deficiency. I'm going to take a picture of a 'reference' leaf to see how it does over time. Not out of the woods but walking down the right path...:Woopsadaisy:

Meanwhile the girls are still growing and all showing sex at day 33. I was out of space on my camera so pictures to come later.

hey rs:tiphat:just went through your thread:check:nice bunch of femme fatale's"Dancing Psiren""Dancing Psiren":drool:you have a pretty good handle on your grow.:kusht:that peter's looks interesting, but be careful with auto's they are sensitive to nute's until they show sex. the cal/mag is a must with auto's I give 5ml per gallon every feeding until flush. during bloom they also get bud candy, it is mostly mag. they get 10ml per gallon every feeding.
your node spacing is very tight, ( I know we all like it tight):hump:is you want taller plants that may produce more bud, you might raise them up a little. love your video's:cool: if you don't mind I will sub on your thread?
and wait for the bud porn.:bone::Cheers:

Thanks for the tips Astro! Gonna grab me some of that Bud Candy too.

I'm assuming that when you are talking about raising 'them' you mean the lights... I just lowered them so I'll put them back up. Noticed that some branches are trying to move up and out so I started some leaf tucking and when I can and am bending a couple of tops when find a side branch that's starting to truck.

Update from the ER!

Greetings from Sir Fuckupalot...
:jaw: Ha ha!

Here are (grovel) pictures of the poor little ladies, well on their way to recovery. The last 48 hours was nip and tuck but I'm feeling that we can get on with these little girls and move forward.

Maybe it's just me but from now on, I'm turning off the LEDs when inspecting my crop. These things make everything look f*cked up. I swear I'd of jumped on this sooner had I been checking these things without them on.

Speaking of nip and tuck, I'm tucking a leaf or two here and there where it seems like the thing to do. Also started bending one top where a side branch had started trucking. This is the fun stuff I've been waiting for.

I'm hoping that the next few days see some more growth spurts now that the Ca and Mg situation is under control. "TFFT"
