New Grower Auto Berry Feminized first auto indoor grow for an old gardner...

Wake and bake in the garden with general musings and ramblings... Hey, I'm Stoned man ;-)

I got some new medicine last night and couldn't wait to wake and bake after being up till 3am last night for no apparently good reason... So I headed down to the garden. Following is some musings and ramblings about progress so far, including some obvious stoner moments. :Woozy..?:

Quick note, Roxanne and Ella are cranking for the Auto Berry dwarf's that they are. Nice thick stems, squat with tons of branching. I have high (ha ha) expectations for these two sisters. I'm torn between the two, they are both sexy in their own way...

Roxanne (1,2)... Ella (3,4)...
5 in tall............ 4 7/8 in tall
9 in leaf span.... 10 in leaf span
7 tip leaves...... 5 tip leaves

So far at day 28, kind of stumbling my way along, here are my notes about what I've done to help the plants along in life "List";

Controlled humidity to enhance transpiration during growth - 70-80% for seedlings, 65-70 once they filled out the second set of leaves, steady 60 right now, 40-50 once they are flowering like mad.

Enhanced the original nutes I got (Buddha Grow, Buddha Bloom) with some additives I've used before with excellent results and one new one (granite flower) to enhance minerals like calcium and magnesium. I made this all into a brew, stew, soup whateva you wanna call it which I'm currently IV dripping with undiluted soup (recipe and products in an earlier post)

https://www.autoflower.org/f139/aut...door-grow-old-gardner-40242-2.html#post773459.

so far it seems that my witches brew is working as I had expected... I'm still developing my theory regarding this nutrient and water constant delivery method. All of my assumptions in the nutrient program are a result of doing a lot of reading here and elsewhere. Getting this stuff to sink in and make sense took me a while but I think I've got the general drift if you know what I mean...

Ensured excellent, constant air flow and exchange - one fan to provide indirect wind to harden the stems and hardy the plant. The other to provide high volume airflow through the tent and subsequent carbon filter to control smell, fungus, mildew...

So far no bugs but I'm going to get Ladybugs to help me out in that department.

180w, 7band, 5w-led panel (1.5 feet above at the moment) and 4 t5s (sides) on a 20/4 schedule since birth. Wondering if adjusting the schedule some time into flowering is recommended. Going to do some research.

Soil test kit to make sure that I don't send the girls on an acid trip.

Moist, not wet or very moist (so your finger comes out dry with moist soil particles on it when you stick your finger in), soil/perlite mix, self maintaining ph range around 6.5 avg. (purchased sweet soil to begin with).

Given all the reading I've done, I think I'm going to have cal/mag on hand, even using the 'organic' granite flower, I'm not entirely sold on the idea that this is going to be the holy grail. I've had other plants in the flower garden that you had to have some special stuff for so I'm heeding the warnings regarding these trace minerals which could get depleted in such a small amount of soil with a vigorously flowering plant.

Patience...

That's it and I'm basically going to stick with it, and do the veg/flower nute adjustments as these ladies mature... Unless someone gives me a big dope slap about something.

Yes, there are a bunch of us neophytes in here. Great company! Real interesting to see how everyone is doing. So luck we have one another to compare notes with too! It would have been much harder trying to do this without the help that this site and the experienced growers provide.

Spreading good vibes your way n4w... :vibes:

30 days from seed and flowering, starting co2 showers for the girls

I was getting cabin fever so I decided to head out in the snow storm to go shopping for some kind of better co2 solution at the local grow shop. I got a solution I'm happy with... aaaaand a few other things because the place is half an hour away in good weather so I figured I'd stock up on soil and stuff for my next crop. I did that and also bought another 180w 7 band 5w led - led lamp, 4 more t5 single bulb lamps and another bigger tent.

The guy at the store told me he'd rather see me add more light than blow my cash on an expensive co2 solution and told me that given my set-up I would do real well if I added this co2 bottle stuff which you add water to and shake at the beginning of each light period to feed the flowers as they are first waking up because that's when the stomata are really thirsty for co2 and will benefit greatly from the 1hr morning shower of gas...

So when I got back I headed down to the auto-zone to assemble the second tent (flower room) and set-up and do my first light period co2 dosing on the plants.

The girls look nice and lush and are growing vigorously. Just the way I want to maintain them. Just about all the ladies have lifted their skirts to show their stuff, nice feathery hairs... The flowering began on the first one two days ago. So far they are right on schedule according to my particular strains (5 auto berry, 1 mango auto).

Now some video and pics. I show the co2 thing and also think I've discovered that the Chica got mixed up at birth and Ella is really the Mango Auto... I think but watch the video and see what I am talking about. The one plant is way different looking and behaving than all the others.

Tomorrow, I am going to pick out some seeds from my collection and start germinating them, light up the new flower room to receive the current crop once the next one starts to really veg. I'm going to start vegging in the new flowering tent until the current fast finishers are done. If schedules get tight, I'll swap them at some point.

One last note, I flushed the last four gallons of my five gallon IV drip nutrient enriched water down the toilet. Unlike chemicals, which I've used in this manner before, the organic stuff started fermenting. Smelled nice but looked alive and starting to get swampy. The plants were still loving it and the soil smelled real nice. I guess I'll just make of a gallon of the stuff a couple of days in advance and apply it by hand. Fine by me. So IGNORE my idea of 'streaming' a constant supply of compost water to the soil and plants.

F*ck! I forgot to get cal/mag...

See the difference between these two? I think Ella is really the Mango Auto which I must have stoner swapped at birth. Ha ha ha.

Hi Rhyce, what is the temperature of the tent you plan to try with co2? From what I have read you really need about 85 degrees and 60% RH for it to be effectively used by the plants. Plants looking great.

Oldster! Wow man, I can't believe you said this. As fate would have it, the room RH is exactly 60% right now and when I shut off the filter fan, the room climbed to 90 deg so I opened two of the option holes on top of the tent and got the grow room temp to drop to... yes you guessed it 85 deg!!!

I am so glad you chimed in because I was afraid 85 deg during the gas shower was high. Dumb luck huh?

Other than that, I maintain a constant 76 deg avg during lights on and 69 deg steady during lights off. I can adjust the humidity to any level I want. Right now holding at 60% and thinking of bringing it down slowly over the next 30 days till it bottoms out at 45 at the end. Thoughts?

Wanna hear about even dumber luck? I went to find my stash of seeds I'd hidden in the refrigerator and they were gone! Quick mental look back and I realized that I must have been on one of my 'clean the frige' binges and tossed them as spoilage... Ugh! Good thing I've not been able to take my trash to the transfer station for a few weeks because I started digging in the trash and VOILA! THE SEEDS!!! I've got them dusted off now (they were in pill bags inside of a freezer bag) and will be choosing my next grow and germinating today. PHEW!

Rhyce :)

What should I grow next?

What should I start growing next?

* White LSD Auto
* Auto Lemon Haze
* Bubblegum Automatic
* Lemon Skunk Fem Photo
* Mango Automatic

??? I'm leaning towards two White LSD Auto and two Auto Lemon Haze... :Grow & Show..:

Ok... I just started germinating 2 Auto Lemon Haze and 2 White LSD Auto. Two days to nirvana. Time to start mixing some new soil.

Yowza!

Hi Rhyce, sounds good. Even without the CO2 there is nothing wrong with mid 80's for growing. When the ladies are in full flower you definitely want the RH closer to 40% to help avoid mold. Night time RH is key since it will rise as your temps drop. If you can manage under 50% at night and about 40% with lights on you should be in good shape as long as you maintain good air movement around the plants

Thanks olds, we definitely don't want mold to screw up the works.
