Day 44

Everything is looking grand. One thing I have noticed is that the taller plants that are closer to the LED are showing some cal/mag def, guessing it's due to additional nutrient uptake. Other than that, nothing really exciting happening. Plants are showing more vegetative growth more than anything. They are obviously too bushy of a strain to work flawlessly in this Aeroflo system. I keep telling myself that MI5 is probably going to be the next strain to grow, given that I have seen most mi5 tend to grow with that central hardy cola that would fit more appropriately in such a confined space. ummm..... Other than that, nothing really much else to say at the moment. (that's a first.)

Stats thus far

Air temp - 75-81
Water temp - 77-80 NEED CHILLER!
PH - 5.6 -5.85
PPM- 750
EC - 1.12
Humidity - 50-60%
Light Cycle - 20 on / 4 off
Light Height - 14-18" (smaller plants are further away)

The chocolate and coffee smell is only growing stronger daily. The scent profile is gradually starting to mature and change though into something even more savory to the nose.

Also, there is a larger 18" fan outside of the tent blowing in through the intake to equalize the pressure within the tent from running the inline fan at a higher speed.

Yea man, people have space heaters that'll come on at the same time every day too. I used to have 2400 watts of heaters that were on timers. I never worry about the power company stuff. Plants are lookin' good, though, despite those rez temps. How do your roots look?

That's alleviating news. Ambient room temps range from 73-81 depending on light cycle. At the coolest, the res will run at 76 degrees. Ice is useless. I was thinking of doing some custom work to the res by putting a 120mm pc fan blowing in one side of the res lid, and a 120mm exhaust fan on the opposite side, thus creating an evaporative effect. I have seen this somewhere on rollitup and it seemed to work well for that individual. Decent quick fix as opposed to spending $450 on a chiller. Only caveat is that I don't really appreciate the idea of doing custom drilling on a $750 Aero unit. I'm out of the state on a business trip, though when I get back tomorrow I will take as good of pics as possible of the roots. Most of the roots coming out of the cups look brown or stained and they get whiter the further down to the bottom of the root zone.

Holy S&$^ dude! And this is your first grow EVER? Hats off to you!

Have you ever smoked this strain before? Why did you choose this strain over other popular varieties?

looks like all that money spent is going to give you a little something in return!they're looking great bro!keep up the nice work you got going.

I had to remote my rez's to the room next door in my basement to keep them cool. Now they're at 60-62deg and all is well. I used to have 'em reaching 80.... not a good thing. :) One thing that could help, too, and would be cheap, is either getting an air pump and a cheap dorm fridge off craigslist, putting the pump inside the fridge and running a big ass air stone or few in the rez... or 2) get a cheap water cooler off craigslist and take it apart and put the cooling coil into the rez. Just a couple thoughts.

gottta keep those rez temp well below the death zone of 78. some people freeze 1 liter bottles and put em in their rez. isn't 60, kinda chilly for the roots. i thought 65/68 was about the correct temp for roots. happy harvestin.

60 keep aphids at bay, which is an issue I've been running into. It varies from 60-62, and so far nothing but explosive growth. The res temp isn't the big thing, but rather the root zone. Inside the root zone I'm probably looking at 64 lights off and 68-72 lights on.

thx for the ideas. I am freezing 2 liter bottles now. I just got back from 4 days away. Gonna take some pics and post an update as soon as the roommates gf leaves. Gonna be ordering a water chiller here in a few weeks so I will def be implementing it here for my next grow.

I have been above the "death zone" since the beginning of the grow. I am freezing bottles right now though and am gonna give it a shot. Highest levels of DO are supposedly around 55-60 from the reading I've done across the net. I will be keeping it at 60 for my next grow.

Update coming soon. I was surprised to say the least.

Hey, thx for the feedback, I appreciate it. As far as for the strain, yes, I have smoked it once before. I suffer from PTSD and this strain works beautifully for me considering it has high levels of CBD (1.6% reported)
