it jist seems weird to me that of i have 10 to 15 gallons of water to dump all of it every week.but im off Friday ill dump the dwc bucket nd clean again......i wont use the control bucket nd res until late veg when she starts drinking a lot seems like a waste of nutes
Some of us don't do the weekly reservoir changes.
My past several grows I've never changed them, and the plants do great.
I do empty out about 3% per day for testing, and do use clorox daily.
Even that might be unnecessary work, and I'll be NEVER CHANGING, and not even emptying out the 3% daily for a 2-plant grow.
If Autopot users can do this, and dirt growers don't change out their dirt mid-grow, it seems like we hydro users can do the same.
The trick might be to have small enough reservoirs that the plants use a significant fraction of the plant reservoir fluid daily.
That would mean a fresh batch of balanced fertilizer every day added to what's left.
I'm trying a 10 gallon tote, filled halfway, made into a 2-plant reservoir.
The float valve is inside the plant reservoir instead of the bottom bucket of a 2-bucket controller.
Plant root interference with the float valve might be a problem, but root pruning can probably solve it.
If this works it will be easier than dirt.
And if it doesn't I'll have wasted some seeds.
