DAY 13

PB160042.JPG

TEMP: ... 22°C
HUMIDITY: ... 40%RH
LIGHT: ... 3 x COB strip with 4 x Cree CBX3590
MEDIUM: ... BioBizz Coco-Mix in 17 litre pots

FEEDING: ...
Tap Water
General Hydroponics Flora Bloom @ 0,75ml per litre
House & Garden Roots Exelerutor @ 0,5ml per litre
Advanced Nutrients Revive @ 4,0ml per litre
Aptus CaMg Boost @ 0,5ml per litre
pH'd to 5,9

The 12 bigger babies have gone into the main tent.
One still remains in the nursery as she was last one in.

There are a couple of candidates who look to be volunteering to be culled.

Biggest issue I have is humidity.
It's too low.

I need to look at ways of raising it.

[tentative] Plan is to run two sides of the tent, and do a little Side A and Side B comparison.

ScrOG nets will go in soon.
Thinking of running 2 ScrOG nets per side [each 0,6m x 1,2m]; one with 1 plant, and the other with 2 plants, as well as running 2 plants au natural.
Side A will run the 3 x Cree CBX3590 COB strips.
Side B will run a couple of 315W CMH lights.

I want to compare yield between 1 plant and 2 plants on the same ScrOG size.
Also to compare that with non-ScrOG as the "control".
With COB vs CMH.

I know, I know, there'll be some "light pollution", but it should give an indication.

That's ~600W [actual] per side, but I could up that if needed.
Theoretically its supposedly the same as 4 x 600W HPS lights for the tent in total. [2 each side]

DAY 15

PB180015.JPG

TEMP: ... 24° C [+/-2°C]
HUMIDITY: ... 50%RH [+/- 7%]
LIGHT: ... 3 x COB strip with 4 x Cree CBX3590, 1 x 315W CMH
MEDIUM: ... BioBizz Coco-Mix in 17 litre pots

FEEDING: ...
Tap Water
General Hydroponics Flora Bloom @ 1,2ml per litre
General Hydroponics Flora Micro @ 0.6ml per litre
House & Garden Roots Exelerutor @ 0,5ml per litre
Aptus CaMg Boost @ 0,5ml per litre
pH'd to 5,9

The most significant change to report is the addition of a 315W "light emitting ceramic" [CMH] light.
Reportedly 97% daylight or thereabouts, first impressions are excellent.

The claimed footprint is 1,2m x 2,4m, so with one placed in the middle of the 1,0m x 1,5m space that the 12 plants currently reside in, the coverage is good to supplement the 12 x Cree CBX3590 COBs also suspended above the babies.

Currently employed is the 4200k bulb, with its superior vegetative stage qualifications.

From a "real world" perspective, it's so nice to be able to take photos without any filter, and such a refreshing change from the yellow of the HPS!!

The babies seem to be loving the environment right now.
Lots of new happy growth.
Added the runt of the litter today, to bring numbers to 13.
It also seems Miss Euthanasia - the mankiest of them all - has decided life isn't so bad after all, and is catching up quickly.

DAY 18 - Addendum

Not sure if I have mentioned it before, but each pot is raised
It does NOT sit flat in the tray.
Each pot is approx 1" raised, so that there is no chance of the roots sitting, and feeding, in the old manky runoff.

Day 18, and this has already been validated
Whilst removing the manky runoff, my daughter noticed something white poking out of the bottom of the pot.
I dismissed it as some random tent fluff, or whatever, but she was insistent on it being a root.

Mostly to humour her, I looked at what had caught her attention.
Sure enough, the root was poking out of the bottom drainage hole.
A further inspection showed that roots were poking out of multiple drainage holes, on multiple plants.

I did not expect that explosive root growth, this soon.
BUT - more importantly, both the experimenting with the air pruning in the rockwool, and the raising of the pots seems totally validated.
Valuable lessons learned.
