DAY 7
TEMP: ... 22°C
HUMIDITY: ... 90%RH
LIGHT: ... 1 x COB strip with 4 x Cree CBX3590
FEEDING: ...
RO water [EC 0.1]
General Hydroponics Flora Bloom @ 0,25ml per litre
House & Garden Roots Exelerutor @ 10 drops per litre
Advanced Nutrients Revive @ 2,5ml per litre
pH'd to 6,0
Bit of a change today to see if I can bring some healthier green colour back to the babies.
Realised that due to the low amount of feed being used, I could use RO water from the drinking tap, instead of tap water.
Immediately brought the EC down from 0,6 to 0,1, and the pH from an eye watering 7,4 down to 6,2.
Nutrients raised it a little, to 6,4, which meant I just needed to wave the pH Down bottle in the general direction of the feed, and the pH tumbled down to the desired 6,0.
Also discovered that Bicarbonate of Soda is an excellent "natural" pH Up correcting agent, if too much pH Down makes its way into the feed.
BUT - very little is required to make a BIG increase in the pH.
No ... Really ... VERY little.
So to summarise, I'm looking at running the pH in coco at around 5,8 to 6,0.
Using RO Water wherever and whenever possible.
My "go to" first aid kit has always been Advanced Nutrients "Revive" [1-0-0], which is what I've gone for here, just to put some ZING into their low pH recovery effort.
I've always been of the opinion that pH is one of - if not THE most important building blocks of establishing a solid environment.
It's the one thing that can do catastrophic damage quicker than pretty much anything else.
