My only advice is keep it simple when you first start. Once you have your environment down you can start changing and adding things.

there has been an abundance of information (as was the plan) so thanks everyone for making me feel very welcome and almost ‘invited’
lol.i will keep digging and absorbing. Cheers AFN! Or maybe have a celebratory Edible, Smoke/Vape/Dab/Bong/Blunt/Joint/Pipe…that about covers the main bases.

Yes, Ocean Forest and Happy Frog are going to be my main base. I have a plan to make what essentially is a super soil of sorts.
step one
I have a few ‘starter’ soils that are coco based: one has some castings and such.. so the plan is to blend the starters and throw a smidge of Happy Frog in the bottom. Germ to early Veg in the Supersized Autotransplant into the ever-home 5 gal fabric.
ill use another ‘dummy’ cup as a ‘hold’ and fill the 5 gal with OF n HF ‘custom blend’ that basically will be more OF and some amendments in the lower-bottom and more HF and the other starter soils that are pretty neutral in the upper top half. If all goes to plan i can just take the dummy hold cup out and drop in my autotransplant and keep watering…(once i am ready to transplant ill prep the 5gal).
im sure its not as easy as that, but that is my plan in a nutshell. And if it IS that easy then i will probably start a grow thread..I may anyhow.
im hopeful that bugs arent a huge issue as it will be cold and that should reduce a lot of their options..again in theory and on paper…just because i am expecting something dosent mean that is what will happen in that manner.
im willing to get my hands dirty to find out though!

I am new as well and 10 days into my grow and expect some ruff stages especially with an all organic grow(seems all styles of grows do)but it does seem like it will be easy like you think.And it will all click when you do start to get your hands dirty.I'll follow your grow thread as well.Good luck!!
Layering soil doesn't do much since the tap root will hit bottom pretty quickly. @Mañ'O'Green can probably explain that better than I can.
