Mephisto Genetics White Crack + Sour Livers SIP LOS Grow

Legalize Tomatoes and Onions for goodness shakes, right .... Good Shop, give hi your biz for sure, he knows his stuff - wish I had a local guy like that!
Ya was surprised he had a Canna-clue since can’t be busy place for growers but he does! Surprised that everything from earth boxes to same worm bin u use to tea labs snakes-growkashi/ build a soil stuff he had me set up with all I needed and for top shelf soil ingredients was even cheaper than amazon so he’s got a loyal customer in me that’s for sure!

This thread is going to be full of great info, it already has with a grow and pics to follow along. We should all be growing great plants with minimal input and let nature do it's thing.

Worms are vital in any organic soil.

This would be a great thread to condense all the info & trials of what was done for future SIP grows :cooldance:

You don’t need a worm bin, worms could be hatch from eggs in the EWC you get, if you get high quality castings but for the worms I have ......

Those worms came from a few handfuls of compost from my worm bin .... they will breed and grow in the earthbox .....

The minimum pound of worms could do four juniors easy - even eight, they will reproduce in the box - ideal environment for them - you could use box as a bin if you like and reuse soil - there is your bin ....

I can’t speak for differences between worm and non worm grows but outdoors it makes one heck of a difference - I pull a shovel of dirt and when I see 10 worms I have good soil - 20 worms I’ve got great soil, for sure it makes a difference .... AND in the earthbox since it is anaerobic the worms should help the aeration so in theory worms make a difference - more airways, food delivery specialists and they make fertilizer- what’s not to like .... but you’ll grow fine Flippin “onions” in the “box” no matter .... worms are an option not a requirement....

Handfuls of straw, enough to cover the soil - Kashi I do a few spoonfuls, one on each end - sprinkle all over the straw which is usually over compost - when the pole goes down and the worms have eaten the straw, time for more - I might add half cupful of compost between and a sprinkle of Kashi - sorry my brain kinda is scattered on the exact schedule - I just kinds read the worms and see how they are doing and add Kashi or craft blend or and kelp as I think at the time, sorry no real game, I’m kinda reading the worms and plant cycle - for example around day 30 I sprinkled some bat guano on top along with some bud specific compost - and just recently I added more guano and compost, Kashi and straw ....

Hope this helps,
MOB
I understand you read the worms by how much they eat. But if you were to guess, about how often are you feeding them? I grow more plants, so I am just curious about how often you have to feed. I dont mine spending $40 on worms, but I just need to figure out how many to do. I have 16 Juniors. So I can do half with worms and half without. Also, as time goes by I can mix in some of the Worm Soil to a Non worm soil after harvest and replant with worms in both. So, I guess that settles it. I will grab a pound of Worms, but will be waiting until I get my roon reorganized. My 7x7 has to come down and have a 4x4 and 2 2x4 Tents to replace it. I have to wait til Thursday to set them up and they ship worms on Mondays only. So, maybe next Monday? For $5 per Junior it is worth a shot to see if they help. I will put them in 6 to 8 Juniors. Thanks for the info.

I would read again to verify but think they say the worms can eat 5 times their weight so like 5lbs of food per lb seems easy enough! I def wanna have my worms come where I can keep in a Tupperware tote before adding them if for no other reason than to see how much food they indeed eat so I don’t wind up over or under feeding inside the earth boxes! My stoner self needs a lil practice before putting a plan into action! :smoking:

I heard it was 3x the body weight. So up to 3 to 5 pounds of food per pound of worms. Like @MrOldBoy says, when the straw is gone, they need more. I just needed a rough idea of how often per Junior. It would matter on multiple factors, especially how many worms you use per Junior. 100 worms per Junior wont eat as much as 200 worms per Junior. So an easy way would be to use 100 worms per Junior and do 10 Juniors. That seems like a good start to me. 200 worms per Junior just sounds like a lot. That would be 5 Juniors with 200 each.

I dont really want to add any to the okants that are almost done. So I will have to determine how many Juniors I have that are ready for worms. I might need to use a tote and do the same as you. I dont want to waste them on flowering plants that only have a few weeks left. Anything in Veg or new transplants will get first. Any remainder I might use a tote and keep them in them, and use Some as I harvest and plant new seedlings or clones. I might keep a spare Junior at all times and use it to reammend soil and start new plants when ready.

Red worms eat about half their weight every day so a pound of red wrigglers will eat 8oz of food daily ...... If you add worms to the flower girls all will be ok and it will jump start your next grow, they will still be there when you use Planter again but you won’t get much benefit with such little timeremaining in the grow - The Original Earthbox and even the Junior can serve as a worm bin and/or a plastic tote or a worm bin of course works - just check out some YouTube videos on how to - ONE RULE NEVER FEED THEM CITRUS or Potatoes ..... Potatoes are a nightshade plant and are relatively high in solanine, which is a poison that occurs naturally in the plant as with eggplant and even tomatoes- tomatoes are ok but the worms will not eat their seeds ...... Good luck - remember to give them some rock dust, worms don’t have a stomachs and the rock dust helps them digest their food.

Pic shows Sam’s Earthbox Original and the Junior receiving some of Sam’s Soil - Sam’s box traveled with me from winter home to summer home and back to winter home - sat outside all summer in the shade - I gave them water and food - this fall when I started the new grow used some of Sam’s Soil and look at the worms in the smaller Junior .... Look close you’ll see the worms in the green Junior

Worms are the WORLD’s BEST GARDENERS

Been awhile since we’ve seen 24k - she was a problem child and didn’t like too much light as her stable mates and her first home was being taken over by NUGS and Goldie so I moved her to a little tent - light is only running at 25% and she seems fine with that but she is small for sure - two of these girls would fit nicely in an Earthbox original or a perfect fit in the JunioR she is in - due to her short nature not much if any training was done or needed ..... This will the first of the three to complete and wife and I are looking forward to a taste - again not my best effort, learn as we grow!

Hey MOB, trust me when I say that 24 Carat is the smallest strain Mephisto has available. I did 9 at once before my Total Hp replacement. That strain doesnt yield much and highly Indica. Not much stretch. Also, not super frosty on most. Honestl, I was disappointed in that strain. I would rather do Sour Crack all day vs 24 Carat. The taste, smellx yield, looks are all better on Sour Crack and they both finish fast. You did nothing wrong, that strain is just not one that is going to amaze you with uts beauty. However, you may enjoy he night time buzz it provides? Dont feel like you didnt put forth tge right effort, trust me...its the genetics. 24 Carat makes a better sperm doner than its ownself IMO. Peace, slow

Thanks slow, nice to know - hope she is tasty and good quality- sure she won’t be up to WC or even Goldie and for sure not NUGS but better than average street!

Hey @MrOldBoy , dont try to do 2 plants in 1 Junior. Trust me. Its a pain in the ass. To top dress its not nearly as easy. The stalks are close together once the plant grows. It makes it bad for access to top dress. I have 8 clones in them and wont be putting 2 in one ever again. If you never removed the cap it would be fine. But if you intend to top dress frequently...it is far from optimal. Having a single plant at the end is by far easier to access and take care of. I will know better in a few weeks how well the Clones will do in flower. Really it matters how big they get and how much food they need. If they dont need much food, then its not a big deal to do 2. But if they need top dressings often, it lacks space to top dress easily. That is why I am planning on doing my clones in homemade SIPS or Grobucket.

I actually like how the plants have doning in the same Junior. But, I really didnt like how cramped it was to top dress. The distance between the sides and between plants makes it difficult to access. I dont want to pack it right by the stems if zi dont have to. The phtos are really healthy, flipping tomorrow. I top dressed them this morning. They big obes are getting large, tok large IMO. I am going to take 4 clones feom each Junior before I flip. They are healthier than the Coco moms in have in small pots. And the clones are coming from the bottom, where they would not do much good anyways. It will help clean up the bottom for better airflow and light access. This tkme tomorrow I hope to have my new tents up and that 4x4 will have a trellis. I will teain them immediately.
