Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

Jarred up my organic harvest last night and sampled one of the strains. Got a tiny bit over dry, so they are re-hydrating a little bit in the jars now. But now I have a decision to make....

It was freaking delicious. Top 2 ever grown in my short career thus far. This CQx24c (organic) and a SODK (hydro) were the most delicious strains I have grown yet. The 4AM (coco) I recently harvested is pretty bland, with hints of fuel. Most of the others were nice smokes, nice effects, but generally on the bland side.

I was originally going to go mostly coco, easing my way back into organics. I can't tell how much of the nice flavor was genetics -vs- method, but I do believe method played a part.

My grow area is now completely free of anything growing, anything drying, any organic matter at all. Full reset. But now I have to decide on method(s). Still thinking of doing a comparison grow, 4 in hydro, 4 in dirt. Ramping up, getting a few new amendments (some kelp, coconut powder, rock dust). Still planning on fabric pots this run with cover crops. Going to order some worms as well.

Will be soaking beans tonight, in rapid rooters tomorrow. Might spin up the big tent a little early and get that dirt warm, cover crop going, worms added well before transplant time. Also will be doing ongoing preventative IPM. Might proactively add some mites, they seems to persist much longer than the others.

So for the hydro side..... It's either going to be coco in fabric pots, or I might try 100% perlite hempy's. Fun fun.

I figure if I do 2 organic/2 hydro of each strain --- that should be a decent comparison assuming I don't get 4 different phenos.

Jonesing to get going again, kinda sad with everything turned off :D

Hey today is day 10 above ground. The directly planted seedling is taking off fast! The 5oz cup is small and the seedling is healthy. But its much smaller. A 9oz cup or Rootmaker needs 12 days or so to trsnsplant. I can transplant today, the roots are nice and the cup is small so it wont crumble on transplant. I am going to wait until day 12 tho, to see how this plays out. 2 more days and will move to a Junior. Peace, slow

Good luck brother! Seems like you sre trying to find your way in what is best for your personal growing style.
I repect that you are not afraid to try different things. One thing to consider is your personal desire on quality vs quantity vs time. My Coco plants will out yield my Organic plants if you plant in the same amount of medium. But they will also get bigger and take longer. Same thing with hydro. Autos will.go longer if the get larger and have larger root systems. So if you dont mind having larger plants, that can go longerthen Coco or Hydro might be for you. If you want high quality Organics, yield may be lower at first. But with practice and the right strains Organics can compete with Coco or Hydro yields. The single most important factor for higher yields in Organics is POT SIZE. For heavy heavy yields and bigger plants, Organic growers use a miminmum of 10gal of soil... more like 14 gal per plant. For example our homie @MrOldBoy use his Orignial Earthbox with Sams Crack and friggin killed it yield wise. However the same plant in a Junior wouldnt yield that much for surely.

So for your new set up, what size fabric pots do you intend to use? Worms have a harder time staying alive in fabric pots, especially smaller pots. Good luck, slow

It's funny how things progress. At first it was free smoke, then it's MY smoke, then it's a lot of smoke, now it's quality smoke. Almost at the point where I'd rather smoke a half joint of some good tasting -vs- a 2 hitter of some nasty. The organic was harvested 7 days ago, and it's fucking smooth out of the gate.

Even grow progression changes. I have an IT background so I started out measuring everything, sensors, remote cameras, automation. I tossed most of that crap out and just roll with it now. I have a single temp/humi arduino sensor left. Now I am eliminating things which I dislike. Preparing coco is high on that list. It would be easier if I was on a city sewer and could just bathtub it, but that shit is terrible for septic fields.

I'm not concerned at all about yield. Or time for that matter. I have plenty for my small circle. Going to give some of it away. And one of the beautiful things about our state... 12 plants for everybody/anybody. So if they stay a little smaller -- I'll just grow another. :D

I figure the Jr's were ~5 gallons. So I ordered some 7 gallon square fabric pots. I intend on leaving some room for top dresses/mulching. I'm fine with starting with Full-till to start, will re-amend and re-use. If/when I want to do proper notill, I will get large pots or beds.

Was going to run all Meph Sativas, but I think I'll run 4 pink panama's and 4 of the indica freebies. Variety is the spice of life.

Still have 2 unopened bags of Detroit Water Only. Picked up some goodies today to make a franken super soil. Got a sack of Stonington Blend, some Lobster compost (I'll reserve some for AACT), and some locally produced EWC. Also got some new dry amendments, some kelp meal, crab shell meal. Like I said.... franken super soil. Going to start wetting and charging this weekend.

I think subconsciously I wanted a little taste test to validate the organic grow. The majority of my hydro grows smell good while growing, smell good while chopping, but end up bland after drying. Maybe just my expectations have changed.

I haven't ordered the worms yet, will look into that fabric pot thing.

Cool bro. Little personal opinion here. Pink Panama was the worst of the 4 Sativas. So, if you have Mango Smike or Super Orange Haze you will be more happy with it for surely. In not bashing it, just being honest. Its acruall one of the worst Meph strains I have ever done and i have dona a vast majority. Peace, slow

The smoke is absolutely the BEST ..... it will get much better with more cure time - I can still smell a 2018 strawberry NUGS that was kept in a jar, open lid and smell still there.

I got 'em all. Still gotta know, ya know ;)

Dont waste space with 4 of them at once. Do 2 if you are curious. And 2 of others. Dont just trust me, Pink Panama gets the worst reviews from everyone. I can tell that you are a determined person, but it is just not worth doing 4 at once. I know you have a lot of space, they can get big. But Mango Smile is best. Then Super Orange Haze, the Hubbabubba Haze. Pink Panama had a real unrefined look, with low trichome production and little smell vs all 3 others. Maybe you will do better? I had 2 different phenos out of 2 plants. Neither were great. 1 was very Sativa looking, almost Landrance looking. Beu different strokes for different folks. Peacex slow

Probably more nostalgic than anything else. Panama makes me think of the old days, Thai stick, monkey paw, panama red, Acapulco gold, etc.
