Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

Just started 2 Magic Cookies. I was going to do the Rootmaker vs Direct planting comparison. But for day 11 my Grape Rolex is 2x the size of the cup. I will transplant her tonight. She wants to be transplanted and will do much better once able to eat and grow her roots better. Since Magic Cookies is a 60-65 Day strain, i dont want to slow it down. Gonna directly plant both these seeds. The environment is perfect, so there is no readon not to directly plant with the results I see on these 2. I do believe the rootmaker will do better than the cups, but not vs directly planted at proper temps. The growth has been nonstop. Will try the Rootmaker comparison soon, just not on these new seeds. Want to get them done ASAP. More important than experiments right now. Peace, slow

I hear ya, get them growing ASAP and with the perfect environment and no chance of transplant shock, they will do well - good luck and grow some monsters- I think SIP experiences are going to total a BIG YIELD this grow.

im thinking about ditching fabric #7s n going with 2-3 sips...cant grow as many, but who cares, i always have excess bud as it is that i end up giving away..!

Good luck brother! Seems like you sre trying to find your way in what is best for your personal growing style.
I repect that you are not afraid to try different things. One thing to consider is your personal desire on quality vs quantity vs time. My Coco plants will out yield my Organic plants if you plant in the same amount of medium. But they will also get bigger and take longer. Same thing with hydro. Autos will.go longer if the get larger and have larger root systems. So if you dont mind having larger plants, that can go longerthen Coco or Hydro might be for you. If you want high quality Organics, yield may be lower at first. But with practice and the right strains Organics can compete with Coco or Hydro yields. The single most important factor for higher yields in Organics is POT SIZE. For heavy heavy yields and bigger plants, Organic growers use a miminmum of 10gal of soil... more like 14 gal per plant. For example our homie @MrOldBoy use his Orignial Earthbox with Sams Crack and friggin killed it yield wise. However the same plant in a Junior wouldnt yield that much for surely.

So for your new set up, what size fabric pots do you intend to use? Worms have a harder time staying alive in fabric pots, especially smaller pots. Good luck, slow

For sure @MMMi slow has some very valid points - I grew Earthbox and cloth side by side - I’ve posted pics earlier of some absolutely beautiful plants grown in seven gallon fabric - biggest yield was 94 grams - smallest was 45 grams - they were in living soil with cover crops and worms - I had a $75 moisture meter stuck in one of the pots and keep that pot and the others perfectly watered - no gnat issues btw .... anyways I added worms to every pot and when done with grow I had 1/5 of the original worm population - the earthbox nad more worms than added, the soil was busting with worms - so many in fact I keep that box watered over the summer and feed the worms and this fall those worms I used in my new grow - the earthbox is a worm factory too whereas cloth pots are not - also no gnats with closed system ...... anyways enough beating the drum - best of grow, MOB.

You won’t regret, just double cap the top and water and top dress And watering is oh so easy as you already know.

I have a feeling the directly planted ones will finish faster. The speed is so much faster. Not sure if yield or size will be different. But zero slow down, directly planted in Juniors and optimal conditions are proving to have a big advantage early on. I will show you the difference later tonight. Peace, slow

@Tom Sowell - looks like you’ll be having a party soon ..... Too much always a good problem - hope to get there myself but right now I have 2-3 week supply from summer grow, which was good and organic but not as good as my previous indoor LOS grow - so I’m really looking forward to this harvest .....
I‘m seeing two juniors filling that space but give three a try or an original if you wanna grow a monster and try a couple fabric pots with the original, like you are doing to fill balance of tent - just make the fabric pots smaller shorter strains and the original a larger strain ..... I am only doing juniors for the speed of the strains I selected - my heart is in growing 10-16 ounce single plants but that involves larger and longer grow strains such as Ripley‘s OG - but I absolutely guarantee one ripleys in an original would fill that tent proving you used correct soil and top dressed and mammoth p maybe some coco or aloe Vera juice as well but not too much, less is more - I have to remind myself!

I like the horizontal root mass but I respect your opinion and will try direct plant someday but for now the rootmaker pots have preformed well and as I have mentioned no transplant shock but 40+ years of doing vegetable transplants I should be good .... Vegtables like tomatoes are always best started indoors and I’ve used rootmakers side by side with other starter pots, including solo cups which only produces root bound spiral mass btw, in vegetable grows .......

Hope you can see the advantages of a trained horizontal root system in an Earthbox and not give up on the rootmakers but when you told me you transplant had shock figured she didn’t come out of pot very easy, I cut the corners down to bottom with sharp tin snips - all four corners and peel pot back, no shock - slip plant into hole made by spare pot and pat down, no water - maybe a mist of top soil but that’s it - plant should already have moist soil and Earthbox has set for week so it’s ready - watering transplant will stunt it if receiving soil and transplant itself is damp.

@slowandeasy

these might work better than the larger start pots I use, less time in these and easy to pop out ..... they even have smaller if you like .....

like this 32 cell or even a 60 cell unit

the advantage of rootmaker pots is just air pruning isnt it?
