I have always foliar fed kelp and kelp alfalfa teas during veg and preflower. This round I didn't, and I didn't notice any change. My plants look great as always. There are many MYTHS about Autos! You supposidly cant clone an Auto. I not only cloned a Sour Blues...but flowered the clone after it rooted. You can and should Transplant Seedlings, so I agree thats busted. But I dont know about spray feedling. I think a lot of people do it. Its a known fact plants uptake thru foliar. I just dont agree with spraying plnts with anything in BLOOM. No thanks.

I think if you are trying to fix a properly identified problem, with the right tea/ concoction, foliar feeding works great, and can work fast. But I will no longer foliar feed as a normal measure.
I do still spray water and aloe water in veg/ preflower, and will continue as a normal measure.

I love to shoot the shit with the boys!Good info - thanks for posting - couple questions if you don’t mind?
in regards to the kelp - is there a particular liquid you use or do you brew a kelp tea, if so at what ratios?
spray with aloe water, what is the benefit?
Thanks,
MOB

For kelp, I buy kelp meal. I have used lots of DTE brand, but I am currently working thru a 50# sack of Wilbur-Ellis from the feed store.
For tea, I just put 1 tablespoon in a gallon jug of water and let it sit in a warm spot for 24 hours. (Think of making sun tea!)
That works just fine for watering or foliar.
If you foliar spray it, it has to be filtered or you will plug up your sprayer. I use a paint strainer bag as a filter, and spray it thru a heavy duty chapin sprayer. A spray bottle will clog and would need to be filtered much finer.
For alfalfa tea its the same ratio 1 Tablespoon a gallon. For kelp/ alfalfa I go a tablespoon of each.
If you want to make a bunch like 5 gallons, I still use a 1 gallon jug, and just add 5 TBS instead of one.
Anything filtered goes as a top dress, or in my case in the worm bin to be top dressed later.
Here is what I have slowly found out about teas. If I have healthy plants and got my soil mix right, and its cycled enough. That same kelp works just fine in my soil mix, and as a top dress in vermicompost without having to make teas.
Aloe has way too many benefits for me to mention at the moment, but what I really like is its surfactant (wetting agent) property allowing me to mist without getting beads of water standing on the leaves.

You can spray the stems/stalk as a foliar feed and avoid leafs. But I have grown so many plants that I feel like a healthy plant doesnt really need any foliar. I cannot claim the benefits of Aloe, but I might start to use Aloe in Veg and Coconut water in flower. I was chatting with the Build a soil people and just like Tad said, they suggest 2x the amount of Soil we are using in Juniors. Now BAS suggested that I do weekly Teas, because it would give a more instant food source because the amont of soil is 1/2 of what they say to use. I am hoping that if I just stsy AHEAD of the game will be good to go. So I will start weekly top dressings on week 3 veg onward. The younger plants that I have have been Top dressed BEFORE preflower. Moving forward they will have been top dressed 2x by then. I read that Coconut water helps transition plants to flower much like Popcorn SST. So, I will try some Coconut water in the future. Are any of your girls getting hungry? Maybe the worms are the key to using the Juniors too? I will be trying the weekly top dressings on all 6 plants that I started, so they will have start to finish Top Dressing Mondays starting week 3 veg. I have a new 4x4 coming tomorrow. I also have 2x4 coming from Ebay. They will tske a few days longer to get here. I like the plan thst I have moving forwardx and hope it works as planned! My goal is to replicate the shape of my plants by using the 2x4 tents as my guide I can manipulate them to the same shape each time. Then move to 4x4 to flower. In the meantime I have to reammend a couple Juniors. I chopped part of the Diesel Cookies yesterday. She was the plant under the briken Cob for 1/2 of its life. She turned out very nice! Not a huge yield, but thats ok. She is super purple, frostyx and smells very fruity. I had to make room and she was done on top, letting the lowers go 4 more days. I am beyond happy and excited for mybfuture plants. The quality is top notch! Now we work on beefing up the yields. Which shoukd be easy considering I didnt do anything to feed those 3 plants at all. Besides a few ml of Calmag 3 times and that wasnt the issue. I also removed the 6500k Cobs from any flowering plant. They will be used for veg only moving forward. I truely believe the 6500k somehow creates a discoloration on exposed leaves once in flower, just on my Organic plants and just on leaves in direct exposure to 6500k. The 3500k leaves are fine. I had 1 plant with a 50/50 exposure and she started to look pale near the 6500k light only. The plant next to it is perfect, except a few leaves exposed ro 6500k show same paleness.. like its too strong or something and only in Flower/preflower. Never in veg.making me smarter .... thanks ....
so then let me ask: why mist the leaves - seems they transpire enough?
I am learning more each day. I agree the worms are helping you vs without..however, I am going to attempt the weekly top dressings to see how well things turn out. I can already see a difference in the plants that I top dresssed before Preflowering. My plan is to use a smaller amount of Craft Blend, but do weekly top dressings. BAS suggests trying weekly teas to deliver faster results. I will opt for top dressing weekly first to see what happens. Peacex slowI’m learning more about these girls as I grow ....
BAS is where the guy I follow, Pedro, gets his supplies for his EarthBox Grow so yes they know their stuff - BTW use coupon code Pedro for any BAS purchases and get I believe it’s 10% off - easy code to remember- Pedro .......
BAS and Tad are both great suppliers and sources of info, I respect both and both agree 15 gallons minimum on a good LOS Grow but have said 10 gallons could work but both are in reference to Photo Plants not Autos so I suspect the right strain in a Junior and it works, part of the reason I selected the smaller strains for my grow and when the Junior is heaped up it does hold about 6.5 gallons for sure so it’s possible to grow a good plant .....
Earthworms, particularly red warms, I feel are a HUGE factor in the Grow - they eat the top mulch and deposit castings rich in nutrients - finesti nutrients available and you can’t even buy them like when made right in the box - some of the castings are even delivered to the roots and they make air passage ways as well - lots of benefits ......
I have moved my lights up even further than when you last saw - on the cob I hung it direct, looped over top rail, there is no height left - the ES 180 has moved up as well - everything seems ok and I think we are getting some stretch ..... On the seedling I’ve even raised that light and she is reaching some - see if I can grow them a little less bushy - it the number of bud sites I’m interested in not leaves ..... After X grows I hopefully will have it dialed in, this is just my second time at the rodeo.
Pic shows junior soil waiting for new transplant - mulch on top with some Gro Kashi and a sprinkle of rock dust, rock dust helps worms digest as they don’t have stomachs- note there is lot of worms - challenge during grow will be to keep worms alive and well fed .... I find the earthbox to be a perfect little worm factory because of the just right moisture level in the soil and the condensation action under the shower cap - when all is right I can lift cap and find the worms right there eating away - they never stop when food and conditions are right.

Great question. When I grow inside, its winter and my indoor RH is super low. I have been trying to run my grows with all my plants very close to the same age lately, instead of significantly staggering starts. The spraying/misting helps bring up the RH in the plants microclimate without having to put quite so much water into the air via humidifier (which is still several gallons a day). This would essentially be for the first half or so of a grow. In other words, when I have 6 seedlings going, (for a total of 6 plants) they don't transpire enough water to keep my RH and temps in the prime VPD zone.making me smarter .... thanks ....
