Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

Roots could be lacking oxygen not allowing them to uptake nutrients - Might wanna hold off on any top watering other than a simple spray when putting down any kind of dry nutrients ..... Just saying I never top watered my gal Sam grown in an EarthBox, I only spray misted dry amendments ......

Also I add EM1 or Mammoth P with every watering ..... EM1 / Mammoth P help make micro bio thingies which in turn produces oxygen - I am not smart enough to give detailed explanation but I do know the Pro Grower I follow uses every EM1 or Mammoth P every watering ..... I also just yesterday watched a YouTube Podcast and oxygen to the roots in earthbox was discussed and the podcast reaffirmed using EM1 / Mammoth P every watering ......

I have three different Juniors growing now so as I move along into days 40-60 will see how my Juniors preform.
These Junior drink the water up daily. Adding an Airstone would cause issues quicklybin Juniors, but might work in Orgininals if you keep the watered enough. But if your Rez is using 1gal+ per day there is plenty of oxygen. If the rez didnt go down much daily, oxygen could be helpful. But the roots see are extremely healthy. Also adding an airstone would make them want to eat a lot faster, causing potential deficiencies or rapid use of food. Also, you are correct about Mammoth P. If you use it, you shoukd use it always. Doing a weekly Microbe watering can csuse more troubles than help, because the plants get used to the Microbes and get used to them so much that they prefer consistentcy vs weekly. I was told this by the Urb microbes people and also Tad from Kis says to use at full strength always, IF You use it. I am personally going to try my consistent Top Dressings for a few plants, before trying Mammoth P at all.

No, it is because the Jrs are 1/2 the size of Originals. The roots dont have far to go. Infact, theybare almost at the bottom when I transplant. I would not want to add an airstone to the rez, that woukd onky confuse the plant and make its earing habits different. You will see that the Roots will be in your Juniors rez in no time too. That is why I tried liquid Calmag a couple times, because of the water roots.

Correct Junior is half the size so WC could be wanting food wandering down into the water zone anyways I am sure my girls will do same, time will tell ...... To be honest I am not smart enough to know the why .....

I don’t even own a bottle of calmag so my girls will have to go without, I do have dolomite lime and oyster shells in the mix and actually have some mixed into my dry top dressing too that I include with my mulch dressings ..... This also brings into the conversation worms - worms help open up the soil and aerate - bring oxygen and food to the roots ..... Worms are the world’s best gardeners.

I think the Juniors will benefit from a weekly dressing. I tried liquid Calmagx because I thoughtvmy RO water may have caused the need for some. However looking back, I think it is just when the plant started to get hungry in general. Because I thoght was only Mag def, but I now know it was actually needing a top dressing, not Calmag. A general N or pK def is more likely than a Mag def with Kis soil, but I was thinking RO water was possibly the cause. I bet the worms will help you out MOB, but I cannot and will not use them. I dont have the time or desire to add them. With Juniors Top Dressing is going to be the most importsnt detail. Worms would help in multiple ways, most definately, If I get some from EWC cool, but Im not able to keep worm bins and what not around. If I had a different set up, like when grew up I would be able to do the worm thing. But its not in the cards here.

I believe KIS sells EM1 which is similar to Mammoth P and Tad recommends EM1, I remeber watching a video where he talked about the micro life and looking under the scope .....

I don’t do a weekly micro watering, I use in every watering except an occasional one - That’s the way I did Sam and will do same with the Juniors ......

As for top dressings I don’t have any schedule other than to hit with some dry amendments heavy when flowering - but I do feed the worms and with every feeding dry amendments get worked into the mulch for the worms to munch on - My grow is just a little different in that I focus on the worms and their health - Right now the worms are eating well but are showing signs of over watering which I hope subsides when plants start growing in earnest but I’m probably getting too much condensation from the shower caps due to wet rags on top so I might need to cut back on wet rags over cap.

Roots seek moisture MOB. The distsance between the Rez and top of the Junior is minimal. The roots will be in the rez within a few days of transplanting, because of the lack of height.. The roots in your Orginal had MANY more gal of Soil to penetrate before even reaching the rez. You will see. You cant even compare a 5 or 7 gal smart pot, because the shape of the Juniors is so low profile. Only a few inches of soil are before the Rez, that makes them reach the water very quickly.

Your EarthBox will become a worm bin ......

Sam’s EarthBox is not in use right now but the box has plenty of worms in it .... I just give them some mulch and amendments like kelp, Karanja and barley and they stay happy ..... worms are the world’s best gardeners - good grows without but even better with worms!

Perhaps my girls got hungry later because I lightly top dressed 2 weeks ago.

I have plenty of calmag, but save that for my coco girls. I added dolomite 2 weeks ago with a light feeding, but that was probably overkill in retrospect. My well water is hard and has plenty of calcium in it. The microbes should be able to process that just fine as long as I don't overload it. Probably won't use dolomite again this grow. Not sure about re-amending with it yet.

I'd like to add worms and make it more... alive -- My concern is that the Jr's are sooooo small. That's why I suspect weekly feedings would be better. And also why I am working towards larger containers. More soil should be less effort. As it stands now, the Jrs and the 5 gallon drink virtually all their water in a 24h period. The days of letting them go for 2 days are long gone.

Sounds logical - Will experience soon I am sure.

I dont think the wet rags are necessary yet. Kind of overkill, until the plant gets bigger. If you remember back, I mentioned that overflowing the rez daily is not neccessary during those few first weeks. I have since backed off and do not aim for runoff until they are using the rez water up faster. I am home enough to do that and it is better than overflowing daily during the first few weeks after trsnsplant. Too moist is not neccesarry. I know you feed your worms, so it is a little different, but without a proper rootzone, it is actually better for the roots to avoid keeping the rez totally full duing this phase

I agree 100%. I really like these Juniors. But I truely believe the low profile alone makes them use the water and nutes quicker. Weekly topmdressings shoukd work best. I also agree that the Juniors are not ideal for worms. They probably will help, but I believe weekly dressings will still be needed and most important vs worms in these Small Juniors
