Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

I dont think the wet rags are necessary yet. Kind of overkill, until the plant gets bigger. If you remember back, I mentioned that overflowing the rez daily is not neccessary during those few first weeks. I have since backed off and do not aim for runoff until they are using the rez water up faster. I am home enough to do that and it is better than overflowing daily during the first few weeks after trsnsplant. Too moist is not neccesarry. I know you feed your worms, so it is a little different, but without a proper rootzone, it is actually better for the roots to avoid keeping the rez totally full duing this phase

The wet rags are humidifiers for the tent, not for soil contact ..... I tried a small humidifier in the tent and that didn’t work out so I keep damp rags in the tent ..... I also have two small humidifiers running outside the tent and room humidity is only 42%, which is too low for young girls ....

As for the reservoir you want some air space above the water level, if possible it helps provide air to the roots but when Sam was cranking she was using 2+ gallons of water a day so no worries about air space, she had plenty .....

Also on the note about Juniors being too small for worms as @MMMi or maybe you, Slow mentioned, NOT TRUE, worms do just fine in the Earthbox Junior and I have to call you out @slowandeasy on top dressings being more important than worms, but that’s my personal opinion but think about this - If we are feeding the worms and they eat the amendments / mulch and poop them out - there is your top dressing delivered right where you want them, at the root zone ....

This is fun, learning as I go - think I just discovered why my Juniors are not using much water and my worm tails are yellow - the wet rags are producing too much condensation- I better think of another way to keep humidity up for the young girls Inside the tent.

Humidity is a constant winter struggle. Ambient basement is in the 30's. Tent is in the 40's with humidification. Hoping that venting inside helps, going to try and tackle that tonight.

Still getting used to the HPS vibe. Everything looks.... yellower. :p

Yes wintertime brings drier air, good for flowering but not so much for the young ones ..... I just removed the rags from the shower cap and have kinda draped them over the watering spouts, will see how it works out ..... Also on a side note I added some mulch and a some dry amendments for the worms to eat, they are munching away at what’s there - I’m only talking a tablespoon of dry and small handful of wet straw - as I check under the caps and I see the mulch disappearping I simply add more food - this is how I handled Sam‘s Grow and it seemed to work out, except at 40ish days I added a cupful of kIS NUTRIENT PAC and some compost especially formulated for the bloom cycle - otherwise I just did small additions as the worms needed more food and it all seemed to work out well.

The Juniors are much smaller and they dont hold much soil depth wise and top dressings are a necessity at some point, worms or no worms. Worms are not a necessity. Therefore, it is more important to stay on top of top dressings. Plus, I never said the Juniors were too small for worms, but myself and @MMMi both agree that due to the size and shape of the Juniors...they will get hungrier Faster than a DEEPLY rooted pot. And you have stated many many times that the Wet Rags were for the moisture under the cap. This is the first time you said it was for humidity, you always said it is for the worms. Now you say its too wet for the worms. You are entitled to your opinion, but it is kind of unessarry to "call me out" for having mybown opinion....based on experience with Juniors, not Originals.

I would rather have low humidty vs high humidity alwaysx especially on Coco plants. Unless the humidity is like 20%, you wont notice much of a difference in veg growth from 40-60% RH. What dry ammendments do you feed the worms and about how often?

Slow I encouraged the rags in your grow for the cap moisture this is true but I’ve always had them for the humidity as well ..... see post

With Worms your Top Dressings come naturally so no need to worry about top dressing every week or whatever schedule Is set just worry about the worm health and rest will deal with itself - yes I did top dress specific once we got into flower phase but otherwise I don’t have a set schedule for top dressings, again I watch the worms and when they need food, they get it .....

And I stand by the statement Worms are the World‘s Best Gardner‘s and while a good grow can be had without I believe the best organic grows have Worms in the mix .....

Finally I have removed the rags from the shower caps and they are draped over the fill tube for humidity only, no cap moisture needed right now.

Peace,
MOB

PS .... All my talk, we shall see how the harvest is come February next year, see if I can even keep them on the track in these Juniors.

Go to my Journal and you’ll see actual pics of some of the food but here is the list:

Karanja
Kelp
Barley
Oyster Shells
Neem
Alpha
Budswell
Egg Shells, crushed and cleaned
KIS Nutrient Pack
Craft Blend
Dolomite Lime

All these ingredients are mixed in a coffee can and when I apply more mulch I simply sprinkle a table spoon or two on the mulch, worms eat mulch and I reapply ..... I have a spoonful or two of each ingredient except the kelp which is double - Neem and karanja a little under spoonful ..... Only top dressed couple times so far in the juniors but with Sam seemed like I was doing every 3-5 days, the worms ate a lot.

Here is my thought process. You are feeding the worms, via top dressings for them. Therefore, weather you top dress to feed the worms or to feed the plant...it is a necessity in Juniors more than Originals. The amount of Soil in an Orginal will keep the plants fed longer, with or without worms. I know you are passionate about your worms, and I respect that. The fact is Juniors will benefit from some form of top dressing because of its low profile. Weather you are feeding worms or soil, it will help vs nothing. I have seen 4 plants exhibit signs of being hungry at about week 4 or 5. I thought it was Mag def in my first one...but it isnt. They all get hungry at preflower. So definatley without worms, the Juniors start to need help at that time IMO. It will be intresting to see if you get anybsigns of hunger round that time. I see you top dressed Sam at day 40ish with Kis Nutrient pack. I grabbed some flower top dressing from Buid a soil and a Craft blend mix to add. I have to try it on a few plants, I will add tomorrow for first time. My order came late, but I dont want to wait til Monday, lime I said i woukd to start a schedule. I will do Sat this time and Mondsy next time. Rather get some food earlier than later. Peace, slow

Man that is a lot of stuff! No wonder yoir worms are happy! I was wondeeing, do Worms help or hurt pest issues. Like if you had gnats, donthe worms do anything positive or negative...or nothing really?

Correct 110% with this to add ..... I am doing same thing as I did with Sam, no different except with Sam I only added soil to within an inch or so where in the Juniors I mounded up/over before planting and with Sam I was constantly grabbing a handful of worms/castings from the bin and applying- must of done that like 15 times thru the grow and my worm bin gets fed good I might add .....

Comparing grows and styles helps both of us and everyone reading!
