Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

New member here with a first post.
I have been lurking for a long time here, almost a year. Living in a state where it’s legal to grow I have a 9x5 room in the basement with an hlg 550 and 2 315 cmh to blend in some reds. I have been collecting seeds for a while and have a lot of Mephisto in the on deck circle. Last year I tried 7 different varieties with limited success so I was anxious for a change. I now have 4 earth boxes in the room and they are at least 5 weeks old and they each contain 2 plants. 2 Ghost Toof,2 White cracks,2 sour livers a samsquanch and a 4 assed monkey.
I tried a couple soils just for kicks. Michigan made mix and sohum are on the bottom 2/3 of the box and coast of Maine platinum blend on top. I will try to attach some photos in my coming posts but the ease of the grow coupled with over the top results to date are simply too good to be true. Thanks for the guidance with this style grow.

Good to hear, excited to see the pics ........

That’s the beauty of a SIP, they grow like hydro because the roots always have perfect moisture or near perfect - add in good soil, lights and environment and you have some nice success stories.

I can see the roots down in the Feeding hole. They are very nice, thick and white. I am loving the Earthbox Juniors. Like all growing methods, there will be a learning curve. But if you have Quality Soil, then you are going to do well. I opted to pay more for shipping than my Soil Costs. I dont have experience with any of the Local Soil brands and frankly I dont trust most of the Grower supply places in our state. I know the shadyness that goes on in this industry in our legal state. I hope the Michigan mix works out for you. I just cant trust the products around here, people with minimal experience think they are professionals and I have overheard Hydro store owners telling people about their current personal spider mite infestations. Why on earth would anyone knowingly buy grow supplies from spidermite infested grow store owners? One store in Detroit I went to keeps their soil and Coco outside all year. No thanks. Might as well buy from Lowes.

I live in MA,not MI. I have not looked for roots in the watering hole but they are right at the surface when I occasionally top dress with amendments!

Awesome. I have heard good things about Coast of Maine and Michigan Mix is getting more popular. I hope this works well for you! Are you using Orginal Earthboxes? Or juniors?

I am using the originals and that is why I decided to put 2 plants per pot. It already appears that I will regret that decision.

Sam never had roots down in the watering hole so I am wondering if your @slowandeasy WC is looking for food which brings up the thought of hydro / soil with an air stone in the reservoir?

That is a good sign at the surface, what you might be seeing is Mycelium .....

The Earthboxes kind of grow on you. Even those covers are less of a pain now.

I have nice white roots visible through both of my Jrs feed tubes. And can see roots poking through to top layer under the cover, along with the fungus layer. I always kind of feel bad destroying that fungus layer when top watering..

Both of my Jrs are looking kinda hungry now, the bright green is fading. I am wondering if in these Jrs a smaller weekly feed would be better. They are both going to get good eats, new compost, new emc tomorrow.

Roots could be lacking oxygen not allowing them to uptake nutrients - Might wanna hold off on any top watering other than a simple spray when putting down any kind of dry nutrients ..... Just saying I never top watered my gal Sam grown in an EarthBox, I only spray misted dry amendments ......

Also I add EM1 or Mammoth P with every watering ..... EM1 / Mammoth P help make micro bio thingies which in turn produces oxygen - I am not smart enough to give detailed explanation but I do know the Pro Grower I follow uses every EM1 or Mammoth P every watering ..... I also just yesterday watched a YouTube Podcast and oxygen to the roots in earthbox was discussed and the podcast reaffirmed using EM1 / Mammoth P every watering ......

I have three different Juniors growing now so as I move along into days 40-60 will see how my Juniors preform.

No, it is because the Jrs are 1/2 the size of Originals. The roots dont have far to go. Infact, theybare almost at the bottom when I transplant. I would not want to add an airstone to the rez, that woukd onky confuse the plant and make its earing habits different. You will see that the Roots will be in your Juniors rez in no time too. That is why I tried liquid Calmag a couple times, because of the water roots.

That is my thought as well. Weekly top.dressings starting in late Veg will be my routine moving forward. I have a lot of ingredients and a perfect plan. Its on! Oh yeah, gotta go blend my Popcorn SST, my Sour Cracks are ready for it! I agreex these Juniors grow on you. Actually I have liked them since day 1. But the cover is a bitch at times. But Im getting used to them. You have to put them on carefully if you plant 2 plants in 1 pot. Which Inam doing with my Fast Master Clones.
