Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

question to everyone. do you feel like the earth boxes are a key part of this system or could you do it with most normal containers pretty much just as well?
You could make up your own, However I got the Juniors on a great sale. I think they are doing a great job, and worth the $. Now I personally think every growing method has plus and minuses. Yes the size and shape maybe different than we are used to. But Organics need a decent amount of Soil to keep happy til the end. So the low profile actually helps on the Juniors. A 5 gal bucket is too tall for my personal liking. How much Aloe powder are you guys using? I believe @OrganicSinse uses 200x powder, but not sure the ratio to water. I would pick some up, but don't know how you often and how much. I have popcorn seeds soaking. They should have sprouts soon. I will hit the 3 plants that are flowering with a little tea in a day or two. She looks good, but I want to crank up the flowers. Peace slowandeasy

I looked into this as well, seems to serve the same function as MBP. For me, given the choice I'll pick top dress -vs- tea every time. I think I'll make Wednesday MBP day.

I was under the impression that corn or Mung beans are better used for flowering. Barley is used anytime, but most beneficial in veg. I am giving it a go and will also try MBP. It's cheap.

Actually you got me looking. I got some of the $9 stuff and now see it isn't 200x.

Ah well, it's still Aloe -- I'll up the dosage and use it up.

Still need to research adding silica, as referenced in that article.

Lookin good slow...

My little Earthbox experiment is going well. I have 2 CQx24c going in the Earthboxes. One of them is a runt, has been a runt, will hopefully get her legs going soon. The other one has thrived. It might be the greenest, most stress free little plant I've done yet in my short career.

I'm starting to settle on a routine. If you ask 100 people about their organic regimen, you will get 150 opinions.

Up until yesterday, I had only watered with Aloe water and top dressed some MBP. Got a nice Santa's beard going all over the top. Yesterday I added about 1t of Neem seed meal as a bit of IPM. Last time I got fungus gnats I was waaaaaay behind the ball. This time I have sticky traps, some mosquito bits in the top layer and neem. I also added a layer of straw to maybe allow the fungus layer to do it's thing without as much disturbance.

I've been so encouraged with this little organic detour that I've got a few more started in 5g buckets with GroBuckets in them. I really prefer the form factor of 5g vs earthbox so we shall see.

Anyhow my routine I'm thinking about is...

Aloe water during the week.
MBP once/week.
On the weekends alternate between Recharge and AACT.
Amend with Dr Earth either a little bit bi-weekly or a little more monthly.

I figure the Dr Earth has the Alfalfa and Kelp + a few other goodies. Variety is good. Got the 2-2-2 and the 3-9-4, will do a blend.

Enjoying this though. It feels more like tending a garden.
I was told that Recharge has heavy metals in it. Check into it. I use URB MICROBES once a week. Peace slowandeasy

Hmmm, quick search didn't show anything, maybe it's the molasses in it. I also have Great White, which I put into the AACT brewer.

I will have to look up the exact date, but she is doing well. I see signs of bulking up and trichome production. However, I am not sure if the leaf discoloration is a mag def or sweat. It has progressed a little. Nothing major, but I see something. I am going to use some Roots Organic Calmag and move the lights up a tad. The Corn I did sprouts with didn't work perfectly, because I didn't change the water. I tossed them. Will soak more and do it right. I think she needs a boost. I also think that I will get Aloe powder and also Silica. Silica will help with the strength and health of the plant, Cobs are intense. I know the root cause of the slight discoloration is from the lights. Foliage further away is not effected. I would guess that I have 3-4 weeks left. We will see what happens. I did not give this girl much besides straight RO WATER, with a little URB MICROBES a few times. So I have a baseline of what the would can do. I now know when I will add top dressing in the future. I am sure she will yield decently. I will add some pics soon. Peacez slowandeasy

Ok, I took a chance and fed her with Organic liquid Calmag 2 days in a row. I was hoping to see a positive change in a few days. However instead I see tip burn. Bummer. My educated guess is that the nice roots I see when I look down the feeding tube are making the plant react faster than soil usually does. I can only assume that I have a nice amount of roots in the Rez, possibly caused the rapid response of tip burn. The amount of Calmag was small, however I believe it is possible that the Water Roots could be sensitive.

So this plant is huge and it was my own choice to try to avoid top dressing for so long. The amount of Soil the Juniors hold is significantly less than they claim. So it is safe to say that I will implement a weekly Top dressing routine for future plants to avoid issues. I was not overly happy with the onset of Flowers, and I am confident using some SST or MBP at the onset of preflowering would help to get things going faster. Now I know exactly what just soil will do on a massive plant. So even though she won't yield as well as she could, I have my Baseline. Without a control plant, it is harder to dial things in IMO. She was a perfect example. So it's all good, no matter how she does. But it's time to top dress. Grabbing some MBP tommorow and will mix with some EWC and a cup of soil. Peacez slowandeasy
