Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

Thanks MOB, she is doing well. I will be making the Seed Starter tea, picked up some Organic Popcorn today. Takes a few days to make it. She is budding better now. I will do Popcorn tea this week and Mung bean tea next week. Top watering.

Too much water and she will be overwatered, spray mist but be careful as the moisture level is just right inside Junior. Perhaps add to the tank?

I will just let the rez get low, use 1/2 gal to top water. Wait a day and then fill my Rez 1/2 way and then fill it like normal the following day. She eats 1 gal per day. So top watering 1/2 gal once the Rez is low should be fine. I don't want corn and mung beans in the Rez. I am confident that it will be fine. The plant is massive and never overwatered. I know she eats a whole gal in 24 hours, so it is predictable.

Ok, I believe that a few of the upper leaves are sweating and causing a little discoloration on some of them. Moisture on leaves can cause this. I highly doubt it is a mag deficiency starting.in my experience with COBs, you want to avoid moisture on leaves. I will set up a fan,.raise the lightnd see what happens. For safe measure I will also add a few ml of Organic Calmag the next few days. Will takes pic tomorrow. The Roc Bud Inc strains are flowering now. And my transplanted ones are doing well too. Gonna start a couple new seeds tomorrow. Peace, slowandeasy

Lookin good slow...

My little Earthbox experiment is going well. I have 2 CQx24c going in the Earthboxes. One of them is a runt, has been a runt, will hopefully get her legs going soon. The other one has thrived. It might be the greenest, most stress free little plant I've done yet in my short career.

I'm starting to settle on a routine. If you ask 100 people about their organic regimen, you will get 150 opinions.

Up until yesterday, I had only watered with Aloe water and top dressed some MBP. Got a nice Santa's beard going all over the top. Yesterday I added about 1t of Neem seed meal as a bit of IPM. Last time I got fungus gnats I was waaaaaay behind the ball. This time I have sticky traps, some mosquito bits in the top layer and neem. I also added a layer of straw to maybe allow the fungus layer to do it's thing without as much disturbance.

I've been so encouraged with this little organic detour that I've got a few more started in 5g buckets with GroBuckets in them. I really prefer the form factor of 5g vs earthbox so we shall see.

Anyhow my routine I'm thinking about is...

Aloe water during the week.
MBP once/week.
On the weekends alternate between Recharge and AACT.
Amend with Dr Earth either a little bit bi-weekly or a little more monthly.

I figure the Dr Earth has the Alfalfa and Kelp + a few other goodies. Variety is good. Got the 2-2-2 and the 3-9-4, will do a blend.

Enjoying this though. It feels more like tending a garden.

The EarthBox also has a larger stand up type container they call the root and veg container https://earthbox.com/gardening-systems/earthbox-root-veg, much like the gro-bucket ...... so there are options ....

issue I see from marijuana growers with the root / veg container and the five gallon gro-bucket is the wicking action - especially if you use a soil that is high lava or any form of sand / rock drainage - the wicking of moisture up from the bottom is key and having to wick up high such as a five gallon bucket leaves the top dry in some cases ......

Additionally roots will grow in a circle inside the five gallon verses a flatter design such as the EarthBox ....... A marijuana plant needs no tap root so depth of container really doesn’t effect the grow so long as the roots grow into the soil ........

As for footprint of planter - The plant itself will outgrow the container so when we talk footprint I think of the plant footprint not the container footprint ......

Perhaps I’m biased but Sam produced 12 oz. and I contribute that large in part to the EarthBox and the plant having the exact amount of moisture thru entire grow and both junior and the original have the design I think works best!

Peace and happy growing,
MOB

Yes, but $30/per for the smallest one.... No thanks.

Honestly, as of now I split between top water and sub water. Getting better at wrangling that cover without abusing the seedlings. My mix is pretty peaty.

My planter size issue has more to do with moving them around. I have an oversized tent, with a mix of lights. As I finish up and remove my RDWC I have some plans to make a raised floor (floor is a bit cold) on a very slight incline with some pond liner to make the whole stinkin thing a giant grow platform that drains down into a gutter. This way I can move the plants around, take them out, rotate, and get rid of the damn pans :) One of my biggest beefs with RDWC is the rigidity. X plants, no more, no less. With a bucket based system I can have the seedlings all close together, then move/spread them out for flower if needed. Rotate them around the tent as they grow. I'm doing strictly autos with perpetual so I have various plants in all phases of growth. The volume is pretty similar.

I may regret going all-in on organic 5 gallons, time will tell. If yield is slightly reduced, I'll just grow +1.

The earthbuckets spill over if you breathe wrong, the opening and drain with the tiny trays aren't... ideal. With the buckets I can slap a piece of duct tape or a cork and swing them wherever.

I'm still enjoying the earthbucket though, just a little nitpickin'.

Original EarthBox takes a forklift to move but the Juniors are very nice and easy to move ..... The buckets will work too, perhaps mulch and plastic cover may help wicking action and spray misting soil as well ..... Spray misting also helps take top dressings down into the soil ....

You want a plastic cap over the bucket or Earthbox, that prevents bad bugs / gnats completing their life cycle, thus no bugs with plastic covers!
